    Default Morning routines?

What do you guys do in the morning for exercise?

I am still not well conditioned even though I have lost a decent amount of weight.

Currently I am doing a 15 minute run in the morning 4 days a week.
I know it doesn't sound like much, but I'm doing what I can and
I'm hoping to get more stamina over time.

    What do you all do?

I don't do too much in the morning. I warm up, do a few minutes of stretching followed by 15 minutes of walking/jogging and shadow-boxing. When I've just finished my run, I do a few sets of push-ups, along with a few sets of different abdominal exercises. This isn't the mainstay of my conditioning but I feel that it is important for getting me ready for the day. You're body's internal clock adjusts to routines including exercise. Having an established exercise routine in the morning will cause your body to prepare for the stress which will help you become awake faster. It's better than a caffeine jolt in the morning.

I used to do hard roadwork in the morning, alternating sprints and jogging on hilly terrain for over 30 minutes of a time. This left me feeling beat and I had to g through the day with a fog that gave me a hard time thinking. I found that all you need is a light routine to get you going. The harder work can come later in the day.

Cool thanks for your input, what you say makes sense and now that I'm past the point of feeling like i have concrete shoes in the morning I do feel more invigorated during the day.

Yeah, just don't push yourself hard in the morning until you're in great physical condition; otherwise you'll go through the day feeling like a zombie.

On another note have you ever had one of those mornings where you got out of bed feeling refreshed, almost happy and energized for no particular reason? Well as I mentioned before that having an established exercise program you do every morning will cause your body to prep itself for the same time the following day.

You have to be disciplined and really stick to it for at a least a week for this to really kick in. This also means that you're going to have to go to sleep at a reasonable time at night so that you don't wake up tired or spent. That's why the weekends can screw you up, because you go to sleep at a different time. You might even feel like you have a hangover when you get up on a monday morning even if you didn't have much to drink. I've had a few mornings like that where I must have hit the snooze button a million times. It's not a good feeling to get up to.

If you need to get back into going to bed at the same time you can buy some Melatonin pills and just take one for the first few nights so you can get back on schedule. You you're in the groove you'll start waking up at the same exact time without having to turn your alarm clock on.

Make sure that you do all the stuff that you need to do asap so that the following day you won't feel shitty about not doing it. That's part of the stress free living bro.

Once you have that all down you can start feeling good in the morning. You can wake up imagining that your bathtub is full of green money. w/e gets you going. Personally the first thing that I do in the morning the first thing I do is turn on my stereo to my favorite music, it might even techno if I want to just get up and go. I get dressed, cleaned up, eat breakfast and do my thing.

a good 30 -45 min walk on the teradmill . raise the incline as you improve. you gonna feel it big time. saves the knees . easier on the legs with the treadmill i think . stretch before and after is recommended ! best of luck mate ! I'm a larger fellow so i just jog a bit after that. nothing fancy..

Swimming's been pretty good to me. I have to get up a lot earlier to swin then to run as have to get to the pool and back but it's not easy to injure yourself in a pool and once you know how to breathe you can do a reasonable session without needing to be super fit. I see people of all ages and fitness levels at the pool.

I like to alternate it with either time cycling on a wind trainer (boring) or a bit of a jog on other mornings. I am limited to running around an oval at the moment because I won't risk any other surfaces hurting my knee.

I like to do something in the mornings but will occaisionally opt to sleep in if 'm a bit sleep deprived as there doesn't seem to be any other way to catch up on sleep than to sleep. I need to be pretty organized to manage a week with training every morning since it gets a bit difficult time wise with boxing at night.
