Anyone play Golf?

It is boring as hell to watch! But a couple of guys from my work go out once a month on Saturday morning, and i've had to turn them down every month as it's not my thing..
I played it once back when I was about 12, and from memory it was actually fun as hell! Unfortunately I only got the ball off the ground successfuly (a drive) about 5 or 6 times over the 9 or 18 holes, and probably 200 shots I played. My technique was just rubbish..
I've mainly had to say no to the guys because I would pretty much humiliate myself for sure in front of my working peers. I would at least want to be SOMEWHAT competitive...

I'm actually thinking of going to the driving range and just paying for 100 balls, and whacking the sh!t out of them until I can get the technique right to hit them in the air. Even then, I would be humiliting myself belting these bastards along the ground in front of everyone at the driving range, so i'd have to go at an offpeak time.. But at least i'd be able to keep up with the other guys to some extent.

My life isn't exactly going to get any worse if I don't bother learning golf. But i'm sort of considering it just for a social thing, and maybe a bit of exercise.

Does anyone think I should I bother with it? Or is it really as boring as it is on television, and I only had fun playing it last time because everything is fun when your 12?

Why not take up a sport you'd enjoy and one that isn't limited to your skill or lack therof?

I'd personally join something that will get you in good shape and enhance your pua skills. A rowing club, rock climbing and or running are the clubs I would join if I wasn't lumbered with an iron lung.

Plus unlike golf there are quite often women at those kinds of clubs.......

I play about two or 3 times a year .
Its the type of thing when you start ,that if you have a big ego and care about what others think ,you are not going to have a good day.

Me I play up the wrong fairways going the wrong way completly against the flow of traffic and enjoy myslef immensley meeting people I'd have never met otherwise.
Confortationalizum can be a hobby too.

The closest I ever came to playing golf was taking a swing at my grandmas head with a club and watching Happy Gilmore. i'd rather watch hair grow on my ass than play that game. I would take it very personally if I sucked; which I would. I don't know how those guys get that ball in that little hole.

I think if your going to give it a try you should probably take a lesson or two, instead of just going to the driving range and smacking the shite out of the ball (which is fun mind you) I say this because if you do actually end up like playing golf (which is what happened to me) then you don't start off with bad machanics. I mean when you first start your more open when it comes to learing and changing the way you swing and what not but if you pick up bad habits there harder to break the longer you go without some kind of lessons. Plus when your playing and you have those few beautiful drives it makes it all the more fun and worth while. Plus when you first start out and you only have a few good shots those good shots are what keep you coming back. It can get rather addictive, it did for me. I always thought of myself as a pretty decent athlete so I thought golf would be a cake walk I thought wrong and use to get really ticked off when I first started, but like I said when you get that one beautiful shot it turns your day around. Golf is more mental then physical to me. Give it try bro its fun and I doubt your co-workers are going to look at you like a fool, I'm sure when they first started off they weren't not that good either.

If golf you mean by hitting a ball with a bat then yes, but seriously julius rain avoid sissy games that requires more walking then actual action. I prefer hocky, pretend to score a goal but only in it to start a fight. I've only heard of golf onces, happy gilmore.
