    Default PBFs Biggest Weakness..

Hes a slow starter. Floyd Mayweather is an incredibly talented fighter. Nobody could argue that. But like any fighter there are things that can work against him in a fight. Once he figures as fighter out hes nearly impossibe to beat beacause of his ring smarts and ability to execute a gameplan. But he can be beaten if hes in with a strong fighter with a strong mind who much like himself cant be broken easily. Zab was fighting well till Floyd figured him out and broke him. Same think with Hatton though less sucessful. Castillo got to him in the first fight but by the second PBF had figured him out and fought his fight. Whether or not he figured Oscar out is yet to be seen. I dont think he broke Oscars will in that fight like he has most of the other fighters he has faced. Either way Oscar is probably not the guy that will beat him. Cotto? He may be the guy cause hes mentally and physically tough. Margarito? He would be a huge underdog but he is the bigger man and a bigger puncher than Floyd. If he starts slow its Floyds fight, but if he starts at a ggod pace Id probably favor him.... I want Oscar to beat Floyd ..but if Floyd wins and fights the winner of Cotto-Margarito, I think he would be in for a tough fight with either guy.

Being a slow starter is not a weakness IMO as far as Mayweather goes, he has probably the best defense in the game right now and has a great chin to match. He starts slow, because he knows that everyone thinks that pressure is the way to beat him and while his opponents go in there trying to take his head off from the opening bell, he is relaxing and letting them wear themselves out. I would put it up as more of a strength.

The only real weakness i see is that he lays on the ropes far too much sometimes IMO.

interesting point that you see it as a stegnth, and I think it can be a stregnth down the strech if he can ware down his opponent, but it can be a weakness if he doesnt cause the other guy put rounds in the bank like Oscar and Judah did of course they didnt mainatain it. Pressure is a way to beat him if it can be maintained for 12 rounds. The other way to beat him is to hurt him early and take him out of the fight. I also think a tall rangy fighter with a good jab could beat him if its the right tall, rangy fighter. it can be done and I think him being a slow starter will be a part of the reason.

Tall rangy fighter with a good jab..

    see: Diego Corrales

see: TKO 10.. Knocked down 5 times

The only way a tall rangy fighter would beat floyd is if he catches him with a REAL lucky punch, assuming that this tall rangy fighter is lightning fast..

and also, i don't see a jab being the thing that beats Floyd.. it's not like Floyd comes at you until, the 7th-8th round, and sometimes even later.. Unless you want this tall rangy fighter to jab at air and get countered by Floyd's left hook..

The best style that would have a change beating Floyd is controlled aggression.. You have to overwhelm him when he's on the ropes and hopefully catch him with a big shot to stun him.. otherwise, he has been near flawless in avoiding shots anywhere else in the ring.

I agree with the tall rangy fighter, and I still think that Paul Williams would give PBF fits, for a combination of two reasons
    1) He would not have to come inside to fight PBF at all
    2) He can maintain his workrate
People will counter with ..............but Quintana.............
and to that I say Quintana's style is made to give fits to Paul Williams it's all about the styles.

I can't think of a fighter today who has fought more "pressure" style fighters than Floyd, trust me he has that style figured out.

I agree with you Sheep that Paul Williams would give him a hard time. Quintana is a lot different a fighter than Floyd, plus hes a southpaw so theres no comparison. Vernon Forrest would too but he may be too old now even though hes looked good as of late.

I don't agree that Quintana argument can't be used for Mayweather vs Williams debate. While Quintana's southpaw style does trouble Williams, it was also Quintana's movement that troubled Williams and it didn't allow him to get set and it offset his rhythm now i don't see why Mayweather can't do the exact same ?? unless Williams adapts in a rematch against Quintana im sticking by that argument.

Corrales was one guy and he didnt have a very good defence and he wasnt known for his jab. Obviously a tough figher, but Floyd was at his absolute best.

floyd is still at his absolute best.. In fact he seems more and more natural at welterweight as he gains more experience in the division..

Corrales wasn't known for his jab, but he did have a GOOD jab, and was a hell of a banger..

and yes it was "one" guy, but your point was about a "tall rangy fighter", and thats what Corrales was.. so why wouldn't that description be compared to Corrales?

I still feel, as i said earlier, that someone just needs to catch PBF on the ropes with a hard shot.. I think it was Corley that stunned him, and that was the most i've seen him hurt in a fight ever, and it was to a wild swinging Corley who caught him with what i'd consider a lucky shot..

Mayweathers biggest weakness is his weak hands. But even that hasn't been an issue of late

I keep telling people that that corley shot didn't hurt PBF as much as people make it seem. I've watched that fight a dozen times PBF wasn't that hurt if he was even hurt at all.

People keep saying that pressur is the way to beat PBF. Yet everbody who has tried it has loss. Hatton the main guy people said would pressure PBF got KOed. It's not that simple to pressure PBF.

His biggest weakness like someone else said is or was his hands.

It just caught Mayweather on the blind side so it caught him by surprise and it stunned him nothing more nothing less he was dazed and it only took him about 10 seconds to recover. Also if i remember right i remember Mayweather getting caught really flush in one of his early fights against Miguel Melo.

I don't think Pressure is out of the question but i do think no one thing beats Mayweather, you need at least 3 different tactics mixed in with pressure fighting, unless your someone like Vernon Forrest or Thomas Hearns who can use there natural physical advantages over Mayweather.
