Is Abraham the one to stop the Pavlik Express?

Abraham is extremely strong. He is an economic puncher who starts slowly and sometimes gives the impression, albeit a false one of fighting uninspired. Then, BOOM, he launches a sudden and explosive burst that is malicious in its intent. As well, his left hook can stop any middleweight (as his recent icing of Miranda and his 12th round KO of American Elvin Ayala showed) and his body work is punishing

But Kelly Pavlik is not just "any middleweight." He is an incoming bomber whose orthadox one-two is lethal.

Can Abraham stop the Pavlik express? What do you think?

i say no.. I don't see anyone stopping Pavlik besides Kessler.. Abraham closes up into a shell, but i've never seen Pavlik not be able to break anyones defense.. He just throws bomb after bomb and if one gets through then you're in a lot of trouble.. Taylor fought Pavlik perfectly in their second fight..

This is the same reason why i think winky loses to pavlik.. The way to beat Pavlik, as i've posted in another thread, is either 1.) Be tougher than him and brawl it out (ex: Edison Miranda's attempt) or 2.) being fast and slick with a defense that involves pavlik missing you completely as opposed to him hitting your gloves, which still has an effect on you.. Kessler is quick enough to do it, and strong enough to affect Kelly.. Abraham is surely powerful enough to affect Kelly, but his output is way too low, and he would have to catch Kelly early in order to not be a ton of rounds down going into the later rounds..

Odds of Abraham beating Pavlik 75/35 in Pavliks favor.. odds of Kessler beating Pavlik 55/45 in Pavliks favor..

Abraham is a huge puncher and could KO Pavlik. If Pavlik got stupid it could happen. Like RP33 said though is Abraham goes into a shell more often than not and that is not a good position to be in against Pavlik. If you cover your face Pavlik will either thread the needle or tee off on your forehead, no wonder he always has sore hands.

I would favor Pavlik, but would also not be shocked if Abraham won, because if he hits someone cleanly it can be lights out.

I was not impressed with AA beating Miranda, other than the KO he was doing nothing in the fight. He is very strong but very slow. Credit him for taking the fight and coming to the US but he would lose to Pavlik.

...maybe because since beating Miranda twice Arthur Abraham is being a little bitch and fighting only in Germany when he COULD be a huge star fighting in America every now and then.


Abraham has fought these fighters since first win over Miranda: Sebastian Demmers, Khoren Gevor, Wayne Elcock, Elvin Ayala, and he's scheduled to fight RAUL MARQUEZ next !!!!!! As you may remember Raul got TKO'd by Jermain Taylor!


Mikkel Kessler has settled back into the same routine as Abraham...he fought Andrade and Calzaghe and then is back to fighting bums.


Kelly Pavlik fighting Hopkins is bigger and more dangerous than anything those guys have done

No way Kessler should be next. They are both still young but time
is running out for Calzaghe. If Pavliks stops Hopkins his immidate next should be Calzaghe in a PPV payday then with a final fight in 160 with Abraham or Strum. Strum would never fight him so that would not happen I would love to see Pavlik own all the 160 belts though . There is no question he can do it. He is the biggest, strongest, busiest , most conditioned middle weight out there.

I think Abraham and Kessler are the only two up for the job at the weight, Hopkins might do the job, although he competed for most of his career at Middleweight, he has filled into the Light Heavyweight frame very well and looked very strong against Calzaghe for the first few rounds, but should Pavlik survive the first 4-5 rounds he should go on to out work Hopkins.

Abrahams hasn't really got the credit he deserved until the Miranda massacre, he is strong a good boxer and carries decent power, would be a great fight wouldn't like to put my money on either of them probably a 50-50 fight

Abraham hasn't gotten credit for beating Miranda because #1 He TRIED to quit that fight because of his broken jaw and #2 Kelly Pavlik made Miranda look HORRIBLE he walked through his power punches and bullied the bully and KO'd him. And since then Abraham has not tested himself...I think everyone allowed him a tune up fight coming off that broken jaw but he just hasn't tested himself he hasn't even fought the top fighters in his own fucking country much less the WORLD.


RAUL MARQUEZ?!?!?! He's 36 he's been TKO'd by Jermain Taylor (a guy many say can't punch) and he's totally irrelevant in the division

Abrahams could well be the one to defeat Pavlik but my worry with Abrahams is that he's sometimes not busy enough in rounds
