Jones vs Calzaghe set to smash all MSG records

NEW YORK (August 18, 200 – The ticket pre-sale for the highly anticipated superfight between “Super” Joe Calzaghe and “Superman” Roy Jones, set for November 8, 2008 at Madison Square Garden is currently the largest pre-sale of a boxing event in the Garden’s history, with more than 12 hours yet to go. Square Ring CEO John Wirt stated that “tickets are selling like hot cakes and I would advise all the Calzaghe and Jones fans out there to buy soon if they don’t want to pay a ticket broker a huge premium down the road.”

The ticket pre-sale began on Friday, August 15 and will end tomorrow, Tuesday, August 19 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The public sale will begin two hours later at 12 Noon. The ticket pre-sale is open to all fans registering for the free MSG Insider at Madison Square Garden - Official Web Site and all Garden season ticket holders..

Tickets, priced at $1500, $1000, $750, $500, $250 and $150, will be available at the Garden Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets or online at ticketmaster.com.

The Ring Magazine light heavyweight belt will be at stake when these two legends step between the ropes for their 12-round bout. Calzaghe vs. Jones will be presented by Square Ring, Inc. and Calzaghe Promotions in association with Madison Square Garden and will be produced and distributed by HBO Pay-Per-View.

Joe won the WBO championship on October 11, 1997, added the IBF title on March 4, 2006 against Jeff Lacy and the WBA title on November 3, 2007 against Mikkel Kessler in front of 50,000 at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Jones is a former middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight champion. For well over a decade, he was known as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and was virtually unstoppable. Jones’ win over Trinidad gives him the opportunity to fight a man who is now at the top of most pound-for-pound lists, and a win over Joe Calzaghe on November 8 will return him to the summit once again.

The Calzaghe vs. Jones pay-per-view telecast, beginning at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, will be produced and distributed by HBO Pay-Per-View and will be available to more than 71 million pay-per-view homes. Joe by close decision for me in a mildly entertaining fight where no one really gets hurt, might get messy if jones builds a lead and joe gets over eager playing catch up.

Jones doesnt know hoe to hold. He cant spoil either . As good as Roy Jones is thats 1 thing he has never mastered and he will need it in this fight . He cant just get on his bike cuz his gas tank isnt what it was. I have the feeling he will do alot of covering up on the ropes with his high held guard and little head movement . It will be an open invitation for Calzaghe to get close and let his flurries go . Statistically he will outland Jones by a Country mile and this should be reflected in the scorecards.
