he rushes in and gets caught everywhere by hopkins. calzaghe would make light work of him.

Jeah pretty sure cal would pull off a lacye-sque performance against pavlik going on this fight. I don't know kelly should stay at 160 that's where he belongs, his punches don't seem to have the same snap, and this is the second time he's above 160 not using his double jab! Also how the fuck does 43 year old bhop outthrow you, if he fought like this he would have never lost his belts...all props to hop and pav better work on learning to throw something else than just a jab followed by a straight right.
His gangly punches couldn't get going against hopkins. No punch production whatsoever. Disappointing for pavlik. I knew hopkins had speed but i've never seen him this good in a long time. Taylor had somewhat of an easy time with hopkins and pavlik had a fairly easy time with taylor. You just never know what's going to happen in sports. Calzaghe would beat pavlik. Terrible showing for pavlik.
Who knows maybe pavlik got to many "yes" men round him...I mean it was weird people having booblehead dolls of him at the stadium and what not...I hope this defeat doesn't mentally crush pavlik as he's a good fighter I think, unpolished but nothing that can't be fixed, and why did he negate his double jab again![]()
Hopkins must have been in the zone tonight because pavlik handled taylor and taylor handled hopkins. Pavlik couldn't land hardly anything while taylor landed a fair amount against hopkins. Styles make fights.
Man - didn't see that coming. Hopkins was awesome - so much for Pavlik's workrate taking him home. I thought Pav would win a UD.That was an absolute walkover - Pavlik had his heart taken from him. Hope it doesn't permanently ruin him.
I saw it happening originally, then people on here, made me think a little more of Pavlik, but they were wrong, and I won't listen to them anymore.
Pavlik againt Calzaghe is a totally different ball game, Hopkins had the perfect style against Pavlik, he is slick, he disrupts rhythm and he doesn't get hit. Calzaghe gets hit, He prefers rhythmic fights, and he isn't super slick. I think Calzaghe wins, but its a much harder fight then this one was for Bernard, I think Bernard is better then JOe, and that he deserved the nod because he was landing real punches.
Yeah to be fair I read your previous posts and you did predict correctly and took a lot of stick for it too so well played sir.
If Joe decides on one more fight after RJJ (assuming he wins of course) then Pavlik disappears off radar now. Maybe Chad Dawson replaces him but given that Pavliks been beaten I think Joe will just retire now.
Taeth that argument works to an extent, but cal was landing and throwing way more than bhop did in their fight. Like if cal only slightly outlanded bhop yeah but I'm pretty sure it was close to double or something...joe isn't better than hop, nor is hop better than joe, they're just 2 great but very different fighters and in their particular style match up joe's style wins. Hop should retire though and go out on this superb performance.
He didn't land double what Hopkins did, He wasn't landing at all against Bernard, I think it was a BS job by HBO that really threw people off. THere were rounds where compubox was giving Calzaghe 20 landed punches, when he landed maybe 5 or 6. I think Calzaghe maybe landed along the lines of 20 punches, but Hopkins landed much harder punches, and Calzaghe landed large punches in a couple of rounds, but the rest of them both guys landed roughyl the same amount of punches, but Hopkins once again was landing real punches which means so much more then just landing whatever.
I think Jones might get owned, My all-time favorite fighter. But for reasons I've said else where if you hit JOe, he will throw 90 punches in retaliation, Pavlik didn't show that in his second fight against Taylor or tonight. I think if Calzaghe were to box with Roy, Or if Roy shows countering ability he hasn't in a few years he would win. But from what I have seen lately, Calzaghe could eat him alive. Roy is way too gun shy, if you watch him against Trinidad, I felt he won almost every round, but he was backing up straight into the ropes, and waiting for Trinidad to finish punching before retaliating. The problem is that Calzaghe doesn't stop punching, he will throw a 30 punches combination then move out of countering range or just keep punching, and I don't see how Roy will be able to retaliate. As slick as Roy is in the middle of the ring, he isn't slick at all off the ropes, or at least not anymore. You need to be able to make Joe miss ala Mayweather or Hopkins, and make it look ugly off the ropes, but when Roy does his rope-a-dope he just looks really vulnerable which reflects poorly on the scorecards.
I pray to God that Roy will find a way to win, but its not looking good for him. All x-factors people don't think I appreciate are the reason I think Calzaghe wins this even though Roy is still by far the better athlete, and IMO the better boxer.
You say Hopkins is better than Joe ... on what basis bud ... Also I really believe that Joe woulda done a number on Pavlic .. Styles as we say make fights, & just in case of emergencies Joe's chin is as good as any one out there ask Kessler, Hopkins, Eubanks, Reid, Mitchell....it's all too easy to get caught up in the hype of a undefeated fighter, I remember when Lacy came over to fight J.C & most of the boxing world had him down as some immortal beast, one paper report I read describing him (Lacy) as the next BIG THING & was described as a cross between Evandwer H & Mike Tyson which thank God I never bought into..
Now back to the previous Hopkins vs Calzaghe .. never mind the result .. if the same reff .. namely Joe Cortezhad reffed the Hopkins vs Calzaghe fight the same way that he did the Hatton vs Mayweather then B-Hop would have either been thrown outa the ring & disqualified for his antics, or failing that, Hopkins woulda been that far behind because of point deductions that the scoring would not have been close, & thats including the knock down which he never even tried to follow up on & that was in his own back yard..
Though I have to conclude by saying hats off to B-Hop for his job well done tonight ... more so given his age & last performance..

Why do I think Bernard is a LITTLE better then Calzaghe? First Hopkins dropped Calzaghe as did Mitchell so why would they say Calzaghe has the best chin they've ever faced? Second Bernard over his career has foughten more high quality names then Calzaghe. I am not trying to take anything away from Calzaghe by saying Bernard is better, Calzaghe is a great fighter, but he isn't in Bernard's caliber. He does have the same speed(not of hand, but in general) which their fight showed IMO as Hopkins used his quickness to land the better shots. Joe doesn't have the same accuracy, or power IMO. Watch Bernard against Glen Johnson, he was a complete animal. Hopkins is a little more versatile. I think he has the ability to fight far more fighters, because he can negate anything. Speed, timing, power, pressure, you need name it and Bernard will not only nullify your advantage, but in most cases he could turn it against you. I think Calzaghe is way up there in terms of modern day boxers, but I definitely don't see him being on the very top of the sport.
Calzaghe is lucky if he gets by Jones.[/quote]
For the most part It will be nothing to do with luck for gods sake.. Joe is and has been both exciting & exceptional .... sorry for sounding off, but I cant believe Ive read that comment re Lucky to get by Jones
.... what an insult to one of the present days p4p top boxers/fighters .. & thats not born from ignorance on my part either ..
Roy is a great fighter with a great boxing brain & lovely skills .. & if he beats Joe which I dont think he will .. it wont be because Roy gets lucky,it will be because he's been a exceptional fighter .....
Likewise for Joe too!!!!
