It's your name, and if you want to change it you should go right ahead and do so. Fuck what anyone else thinks.

CFH, its like this,in 1847 my great great great Grandmother left Ireland for Canada Her Husband remained in Ireland to finish some loose ends, before He could join Her. Unfortunatly the English killed Him, and He never made it. So his wife kept Her maiden name and changed Her Sons too. Hence Im not who I should be in name.

I'm with CFH. It's your name. I've never liked mine but could never settle on what I would prefer to be called. My name does't feel like me. Sounds odd I know.

I still can't believe just how brutally the Irish have been treated, going right back to 1171.

Anyways, if you feel that you should take his name, then I say go ahead and do it. Nobody can stop you, and nobody should really care IMO.

I found out not long ago that my last name isn't what it should be. Apparently, my Grandfathers real dad (or was it his mom? he won't talk about it) had some long-ass Irish name H-something. However, my grandfather took the name of the guy who raised him, giving us a generic, English last name (Cook).

It's a pretty cool way to honour your ascendants.

But on the other hand, you've already forged your own legacy and I believe you've personified your name - made it yours and would be siomply putting a new label on an already perfected* product.

My name wouldn't have changed but my mom's would of. My great great grandfather was the Mexico ambassador to the US. I'm not quite sure of the history but they had a giant house on the hill and basically a whole compound of people who worked for them. Well eventually some people got angry and set fire to the house where some of the staff lived and they were forced to flea on a huge boat as the house was set fire.

My great great grandfather then sold the boat to I think his name is Giovanni Pannini? The founder of Bank of America the one who formed it after the earthquake. They sold it to him and bought a house on 29th street in San Francisco which my family still owns.

OK thats all nice but anyways when my great great grandfather came to America he Americanized his name and changed it to Howell. My grandpa is the descendant of them, he put the final touch on my familiy's Americanization, marrying an Irish woman and he didn't teach any of his kids Spanish which my mom still gives him shit about.

Matson is my name I have no idea what that means, I just see it on all the cargo shipments out there in Oakland. I don't have any of that money.

If it means so much to you, then do it. I bet that no matter what your last name is, a lot of your boxers will remember you as Mr. H.
