Default Can Jennings pull off a Shock and beat Cotto?

And will Cotto ever be the same again after the beating he took from Margarito.........?
I think Jennings might pull this off

Michael Jennings has one of the more unenviable tasks in boxing on February 21. Not only will he be facing one of the world’s best fighters at 147lb, but also a man looking to make an impression after suffering a crushing defeat last time out. That’s because Jennings meets Miguel Cotto for the vacant WBO welterweight title at Madison Square Garden, and there are not too many people in the ‘business’ giving Jennings much of a chance.........

Jennings is as far from World class it beggers belief , he has only one chance , and that is none , he cant hit at top level , and has no chance what so ever of winning , this is a massive mismatch.

Cotto brutally KO'S him inside 5

I'd have agreed if it were a pre Margarito "Miguel Cotto" but what's Cotto gonna be like?
Very few fighters are ever the same after that sort of sustained beating .... Just look at Lacy.
Never a better time to face Cotto for someone like Jennings

I've seen Jennings live twice, on the undercard of Calzaghe-Manfredo, beating Takaloo and on the undercard of one of the Hatton fights.

I remember thinking he was a nice clean fighter, with a bit of tenacity but....he got rocked a couple of times v Takaloo, Cotto can do more than rock any welterweight.

I think his movement and jab may allow him to avoid an embarrasment like Alfonso Gomez was handed, but at the same time I only see it going one way

Cotto had enough power to keep Margarito off him.

See Cintron-Margarito, Margarito walked through Cintron power shots and dug to the body.
Cotto on the other hand had enough power to disuade Margarito from delving in.

Don't believe Tony is all physical, he's an expierienced ring-saavy fighter.

Hold on mate, Takaloo is a genuine big puncher and at light middle as well, Cotto has never been a big puncher, a good one yes but not big, Hatton hits harder than Cotto, Ricky took Maussas head clean off with that left hook, Cotto coulkdnt do that

Brian Hughes fighters are all very well schooled, taught how to defend and box nicely, Jennings does have power, remember him sparking Vincent?

Takaloo is nowhere in the region of Cotto.
To be a puncher requires more than raw power. It requires correct technique, balance and expierience. Cotto has all of the above.

Cotto is a very authorative puncher and his performances at Light Welterweight cannot be taken into consideration now.
At LW he was emmaciated, starved and weak.
Look at his performances at welter v Judah, Gomez and SSM.....thats a hard puncher.

Paulie Malignaggi also contested that Miguel Cotto punched a lot harder than Ricky, although Ricky was better in combination.

Sparking Vincent bears no consequence on a fight with Miguel Cotto.
A domestic level fighter cannot be compared to an elite, p4p worthy fighter

Lacy was a one-dimensional over-hyped power puncher. The beating, IMHO, did more damage to his confidence than his body. Joe humiliated him, but he didn't do much physical damage. That fight was a complete shutout.

Cotto took a serious physical beating from Tony, but for most of the fight, he was outboxing him. Cotto also has a number of wins over top-level competition. He lost to Tony, but he's beaten enough great fighters that one defeat won't destroy his confidence like it did to Lacy.

Anyway, even if Cotto ain't the same, Miguel Cotto at 75% will destroy Michael Jennings.

This fight is nothing but a confidence booster for Cotto! He took a beating from Toney but Cotto aint no Lacy and he get back to his best when he gets his confidence back.Even if Cotto isnt at his best he is still far too good for Jennings.Jennings is a good domestic fighter and a good bloke but he is'nt worrld class.

It all comes down to how Cotto is mentally after Margarito. Losses like that can permanently change a boxer, he may never be the same again.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I think the way Margarito broke him down may well have finished Cotto as a top-level fighter, and I certainly couldn't see him beating Margarito again, but the fact is even Cotto only 25% as good as he was pre-Margarito will smash Jennings
