Mission Possible: 4 World Titles in 2 Weeks

Four of the cream of the crop in Philippine boxing takes on 4 world boxing title fights in a 2 weeks period from April 19 to May 2, 2009.

Two were already successful in doing so. Brian Viloria captured the IBF Light Flyweight title by knocking out former champion Ulisses Solis in the 11th round and Nonito Donaire Jr. retained his IBF/IBO Flyweight titles by knocking out Raul Martinez in the 4th round.

Next up is Gerry Peñalosa who will challenge WBO Super Bantam champ Juan Manuel Lopez on April 25, 2009 in Puerto Rico.

The mission will culminate on May 2, 2009 when Manny Pacquiao challenges the Ring/IBO Light Welter champ Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas, USA.

4 world titles in 2 weeks seems very possible...

I thought Brian Viloria was Hawaiian? Or is Hawaiian Punch just his favourite flavour juice?

Viloria born in Hawaii of Filipino parents so technically he's a Filipino-American. Viloria visits the Philippines and can speak the local language of the Philippines.

Donaire born in the Philippines and grew up in California, USA... Another Filipino-American...

I have similar hopes for Omar Narvaez. He's an Argentinian boxer, born and raised, but is from Trelew, in Chubut province, which is one of the Welsh settlements in Argentina. If he can speak Welsh, or trace Welsh heritage, we'll claim him as one of our champions .

You can claim Pacquiao too if you wish since I've heard PAC saying this statement in Scottish accent...

“I was born and raised in Scotland, our hero is William Wallace. This coming May I am fighting for freedom against the Englishman.”

Yes, because Scotland & Wales are the same country

I think you won't take more than 3, I can't see Penalosa beating Juanma, I just think stepping up he'll have too much for him. Pac-Hatton is so close to call, I'm sliding further towards Hatton as the fight approaches although for insurance purposes I'll stick with my pre-fight prediction of Pacquiao by SD.

He's got power that's for sure. But I don't his skill is battle tested yet.

If he is not battle tested, then Gerry has a big chance of winning.Especially when the fight would be carried to round 8,Gerry's experience will count most.

don't get how an a dude raise in Hawaii and uses the nickname Hawaiian Punch is considered a full fledged Fillipino, yet a fighter born and raised in the US of Mexican descent son of Mexican immigrants is just considered American, and yes i'm talkin bout Oscar De La Hoya, by that theory USA gets to claim Antonio Margarito, he was born in the US and raised in Mexico , hell Cintron was born here in Puerto Rico you don't hear us trying to claim his ass as one of our own, that's for damn sure lol

You are generalizing there with the "WE". You're exxagerating a bit. Ofcourse Cintron has some PR supporters and claiming him as one of their own. He's a little disgrace to them right at the moment coz he's been crying like a baby lately.
