Default When Did Hattons Punch Resistance Go?

I know people are going to jump on me and say Manny of Floyd would have stopped him at any time in his career. And I agree, I think Floyd or Manny beat him 10 out of 10 times, but I dont know that he would have been knocked down from some of the punches that were landed. He never had a good defense, but he had a sturdy enough chin that he could take punches to land punches, though not without a price. Over the last few years it seems he was getting buzzed more and more since around the Maussa fight. That was his 40th fight in a career that he built on the ability to walk through punches when needed and finishing the job. Maussa and Tszyu, both big puncher, rocked him in their fights but never put him down and his head seemed to clear faster than recently. So my question is did his ability to take a punch diminish over time, or was it that he just didnt fight good, prime opposition until late in his career? Or was the weight gain and loss a factor? I suspect its a bit of all these things combined. All in all, I do think there was a time when he had a very good chin. With his style, he wouldnt ave made it this far without one.

The ring post. That did it. It shattered Hatton's chin.

I would say somewhere during or maybe after the fight with Mayweather, due to his hardcore lifestyle outside the ring and this very bad habit of blocking shots with his chin.

Hard to say really been on the slippery slope defintly after the Mayweather fight, Lazcano had him in huge trouble which was a big shock for me.

Getting knocked out against Floyd and general wear and tear exacerabated by bad living habits in between fights. He was rocked a couple of times by Lazcano after the Floyd fight, a guy not known for being a big puncher. I think the Tszyu fight took a lot out of him as well.

Could be around the Mayweather fight. Going back to 140 couldnt have helped. I think too that fighting Malignaggi, who cant punch, and Juan Lazcano, who managed to hurt Ricky but wasnt a huge puncher at 140 though he was a pretty good puncher below that, kind of masked the fact that his chin wasnt what it once was imo.

I think Hatton has been ordinary since the Tszyu fight, he took a battering too if you look at his post fight face. His resistance has gone completely and this is usually when a fighter if he continues will lose to a guy with lessor ability and get knocked out again. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Hatton lost again first up after the Pacquiao loss.

In my mind, he never looked the same after the Collazo fight. He ate a ton of leather that night.

How many fighters wouldn't go down from a shot like that. He walked right through Malignaggi.

I am a big Hatton fan and I have watched all his fights many times, the Tszyu fight was the most important of his career and he knew it. There is no doubt that if he lost that fight he would never have got big names like Floyd or Pac in the ring (maybe Castillo) so he went through hell to get that win and he was hugely motivated for that fight, I think this is the fight that started it all off as he took some huge shots.

After the Collazo fight I don't think he was ever the same, he took some hard shots in that fight especially near the end. Since that fight I think Hatton has had lots of trouble making weight at 140. He has looked like shit on the scales for every fight after Collazo apart from the Floyd fight at 147 and it was the Floyd fight that did the job.
