    Default Motivation to run

As most of us here will know, running isnt the most exciting part of training (i for one find it extremely tedious). Because of this i find it hard to motivate myself to get out there and do it, and although i always manage, i thought it would be interesting to hear how the rest of you motivate yourselfs to pound the pavement.

I used to hate it, but I kept at it and now I really enjoy it. Rocky Soundtrack on the iPod is the key for me

I only do 3 miles, but am doing it in about 22 minutes 30, which for a 210 pound Hunk of burning love aint bad

My trainer told me it makes your weener bigger. Been running my ass off ever since. Still waiting on the results tho.

On a serious note, running kinda sucks for all but a few rare people who like it. The only real motivation i know of, is in grinding it out and getting to the place where you can finally say, with lotsa gas in the tank, "holy crap! it works!"

I used to time myself over a distance and attempt to beat my PB. Id chop a 3krun down into 4 individual time frames and if i knew 1.5k in i was only a few secs off my record it used to make me run my ass off

Nowadays the only running i do is when burger king have a sale on, but it used to work for me

Youre not going to believe this, Ive never given it a thought. Then on asking the question to myself, I was always Fit. From being a kid I climbed, and the hard bit for me was in the early days was the walkin to where we were Climbing, with a Pack on our backs.Eventually we ran up Hills to get where we were going. It got where our Fitness levels were very good, in fact you got your 2nd wind and it felt better than sex . I know when they tested me with a Vo2 test my Heart could work at 120 for a very long period, my resting pulse was35. I suppose the fitter you are the less stress there is, the more you can enjoy. Love to hear others thoughts on the subject interesting.

I try to keep in mind that the more I run the longer I will be able to train in the gym. Plus theres nothing like it for getting rid of the days stresses!

I heard that people with a strong hand grip tend to have low blood pressure. Personally I find most physical activity to be uplifting. The endorphin rush certainly helps.

I have to run up a hill on my jog route, which i try to do as fast as i can. Think it will be a while before i get to the stage where i can wink at lasses as i pass by though, im too busy gasping at the moment.

I've been running for donky of years.I've always been running.I did the Great North Run three times in a row as well as a Nutty Slack race which you have to run a mile as fast as you cann with a 8stone bag of coal on your back, great days.I get well motivated especially when you have some good quality rock and roll tunes blasting away throughout your ipod.I guess desire plays alot when you go for a run.Desire and motivation are two keys on keeping up the jogging routine!

I also hate running at the mo, a coupla years back i played club rugby which involved quite a bit of aerobic fitness and I remember back then I also hated it but after a short while I learned to love it - I think that it is the pain of getting into it that causes the dislike, but that soon passes and you can enjoy your workout.
Have you heard the phrase "Success breeds success"? i believe that the motivation to run actually comes from running

I have always preferred to run early in the mornings' cool crisp air.

As a side note I have read that it is beneficial for boxers to include interval runs into their roadwork program.
