Pacquiao-Cotto outdraws Mayweather-Marquez at gate - USATODAY.com
Pac's fight drew a larger gate than Floyd's. Certainly Floyd will argue that it was because it was the two of them whereas HE only sold the Marquez fight.

Its a fair argument too. PBF v JMM did way more sales than Pac v JMM. PBF v DLH did more than Pac v DLH and PBF v Hatton did more than Pac v Hatton. Hard for Pac's team to then argue Manny is the bigger PPV draw.
And he would be nearly right. JMM is a little draw. Lets be honest with ourselves here. Throw out your disdain for PBF, l do it all the time, and look at what PBF draws against what Pac draws. You can't just take one fight Pac drew better, with different opponents, and say well that wraps it up. PBF drew more than Pac with every common opponent. You do know that PBF is in the PPV record books right? You can't ignore the facts or try to twist them to favor Pac. Whether you hate him or love him PBF is the bigger draw.
Not only round one. I expect Floyd to lose the next rounds of negotiations too.
So why didn't Floyd fight Cotto then after all these years?
Floyd has always been saying that he didn't fight Cotto/Mosley because they are not huge draws.
So now he finally admits that Cotto is a huge draw? So why did you duck him back then Floyd![]()

Jesus Christ these negotiations are gonna take forever. Wake me up when the ink dries. I don't really care which one makes more money, I want to see them fight.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Agreed on who makes what money and takes the percentage of teh ppv buys. I just want to see the fight. That kind of stuff are for the fan boys to argue with.
That is true, but yes ok Pac-Cotto is the better fight than Floyd-Marquez but reports are coming out that is did close to 2 million, that smokes anything Mayweather has ever done I think that has big big power when comes to negotiating.
Lets not forget Mayweather has also been groomed as a p4p boxing superstar for many many years before we new who Pac was, so it's taken time for Pac to become the ppv star he now is.
Like i said after the last performance imo Pac would do more buys than Mayweather if they fought the same fighter, for instance id put the house on say Pac-Mosley doing more than Mayweather-Mosley After his last performance Pac has become the premier star in the boxing world imo, the best no I still think Floyd beats him but for me he is the star now.
There are always circumstances. You don't really become a star till you fight Oscar so comparing the numbers on JMM-Pac and JMM-Floyd is kind of silly, one fought him after he fought Oscar and the other didn't. The fact that Pacquaio fought ODLH after Floyd beat him and Hatton after Floyd beat him probably affected the numbers somewhat (along with the economy)
And here Cotto is a bigger draw than JMM, its just a question of how much bigger? There are only two real draws in boxing, Floyd and Manny, Cotto is in the second tier if there is one.
This is wrong. PBF v DLH did 2.15 million buys, PBF v Hatton did 1.5 million buys. It sounds as tho Pac v Cotto did 1.6 million buys. So to say that Pac v Cotto smoked anything Floyd has done is just a straight out lie. Mayweather did a million buys with Marquez even when up against a UFC card which would have had a negative effect on that fights numbers.
Your rite sorry my mistake Floyd V Dela Hoya was 2.15 million buys i thought it was less, but the Hatton fight did 920k not 1.5 million.
But I honestly think Pac does more buys now than Mayweather as I have said previously. Lets just get it on 50/50 sounds good to me this fight will do 2.5 buys so who gives a fuck lol
I agree with a lot you say here. These guys are not that far apart in drawing power so this fight should just be 50/50. Or 45/45 and 10% go to the winner. But Roach says he is not backing down from 60/40. I hope that is just a bluffing starter number otherwise this fight will not happen because PBF will definitely not take less than 50% from anyone other than DLH. 45/45 and 10 to the winner is the negotiable, and manly, thing to do.
i agree, IMO neither should be getting a 60/40 cut, it's pretty ridiculous that either one of these guys think that they have the drawing power of DLH, i mean Mayweather and Pacquiao are big and have been pulling big numbers, but they've been doing it against quality opposition and other big names, DLH could get a million buys just by fighting Kid Thunder
This kind of thing happens all the time, I thought 142 was a bargaining move and it was, I think 60/40 is a bargaining move, I'll say it now as a Manny fan, if anybody says 60/40 or fuck off and sticks to it they're pricing themselves out, just another form of ducking.
