    Default Tyson Holyfield 1

I had to pull this fight out of the closet to get remind myself of what a good heavyweight fight looks like. I have Tyson ahead after the 5th round. In the 6th Holyfield hits Tyson with an EXTREMELY low blow that the ref misses. Seconds late Holyfield drops Tyson to the canvas for the second time in his career, and subsequently finishes Iron Mike off by the 11th frame.

    My question is this:

Could Holyfield have won this fight without the low blow?

In my eyes Tyson never recovered from that punch. And I dropped Holyfield another notch as a professional fighter. He is pretty fun to watch when he's not head-butting his way to victory, but there is no denying his rough-house tactics.

it was a masterful performance by Holyfield, i wouldn't label him as a dirty fighter, cause he didn't have to cheat to win, and since when has Tyson been Mr. Clean?

if things aint going tysons way we know he self destructs, plus tyson thought he could just turn up & win, so when this didnt go to plan holyfield had the fight won.

One of the best executions of a gameplan I've ever seen. I think the low blow was a mute point and honestly Tyson is the last guy I give credence too when he cries foul(s). It was a rough & tumble fight as are most hvy weight clashes worth their weight. Suck it up and fight. As years have gone Holyfield has had some head butts but that movement, counter punching and out bullying the bully was something else to watch unfold.

The low blow didn't matter that much. Holyfield just beat Tyson down like a dirty rug.

It reminded me of a good Brooklyn street fight I saw once. Besides the busted lips and loose teeth, these guys had lots of beer to end their pain. The rest of us were amazed no one was killed.

Exactly. Tyson thought he could bully a supposed "faded" Evander and when he realised he couldn't his shit Heart gave way. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Tyson lacked the heart to be a great, Evander is an all time great.

Are you kidding me ? yes of course Evander Holyfield would have won, i think he was always winning by quite a wide margin. Mike Tyson hit Evander Holyfield with everything in the 5th round, then Mike Tyson got dropped on the seat of his pants the next round.

I mean what about Razor Ruddock vs Mike Tyson 2 ? Mike Tyson hit Razor Ruddock with so many low blows it was like watching Riddick Bowe vs Andrew Golota.

Tyson has got to be the dirtiest fighter in morden times so IMO what comes around goes around.

In all truth as a top level fighter when this bout came off Tyson was done as much as I like Mike the fact is he stopped boxing and just looked for 1 punch...Mike was a bully in the ring like others state yes but not the bully where he would not fight back when put against the wall...It was all part of his persona...Part of his mental game his whole career shit is it his fault that so called professional fighters SUPPOSED world class professional fighters are scared because he gives a dirty look and tells you to fuck yourself?....It is boxing and anyone who looked down on Tyson for his antics must think Ali is the Anti Christ because when you look back on the things that man did to opponents in and out of the ring he was just plain cruel....

At the time of Tyson Holyfield 1 Mike was looking to be a 1 punch KO artist and he was but he aslo could box well if he WANTED thing is he had gotten so used to being a 1 shot artist and guys crumbling before he even entered the ring that he gave up on being a true fighter of his caliber by living free outside the ring etc....

Holyfield did what the gameplan was frustrate Tyson on the inside smother his punching power and have him make mistakes...They also relied on the fact that Evander at that time had a stellar rep as a fighter so dirty things by him would be looked upon as "ACCIDENTS" Evander would never do anything on purpose .....Frank Bruno used these tactics in the 1st Tyson fight and it worked well for him before the stoppage and that was before Tyson declined to the point he had by time he fought Evander.....

Evander Holyfield I agree is a dirty fighter...Look at all of his fights not just the Tyson fight and you will notice he is dirty whenever he can be Elbows. lowblows, headbutts, holding and hitting are all his specialties...He is one of the dirtiest fighters in the ring to ever hold the World title...Out of the ring believe me Evander is an arrogant self loathing I am the shit individual that has little appeal as a person but he knows that does not play well for the cameras so he acts different when the cameras are on him......

In the end none of it mattered...Tyson alloowed Tyson to be bullied and treated that way...He was the stronger fighter he was the dirtier fighter and he could have just made it that way all the more oin his favor he choose not too....The Tyson of any stage would have fell victim to that night but chances are he would have boxed more like he knew how to and caught Holyfield to end the show instaed of it being the other way around
