That's the thing his age is his other asset he has all the time in the world to improve but the RAW tools are there his physicality and charisma. Skillset just needs some tweaking.

Canelo is really young and now he has a belt in a division that has a lot of "stars", there's but so much "picking" he can do before he has to fight the upper tier. I did think Canelo is way too flat footed to land his big shots. He's in a weight class that has Sergio in it and if Canelo fights anyone w/decent movement that will hit him then move and hit him again while moving out of the way, he'll be another Pavlik.

I do see some good fights for him though, Cheato/Kirkland/Angulo/Cotto/Paul all fights that will test him and what he's able to do.

I hope his team manages him right and doesn't throw him to the sharks within the next year or two.

I honestly accept GBP to cradle him for 2 years more, definitely NOT rush him.

The moral dilemna is though we dont want to rush Saul but he has a major belt then who will he defend it to?

Its confusing because I thought he didnt make weight for the fight but still got the belt

It would be impressing if he holds on to it for a long time but eventually he does have to fight somebody that will give him problems.

Yup I thought of that too but technically it is still within the junior middleweight limit, I guess the fine would suffice. I see 3 years of cradling by the time he is out of the Green zone, by that time he is a bit in his prime and the top fighters today will be a lil shop worn

The contracted weight for the fight was 150lbs. The problem he had was not making the contractual weight. He had to fork over 30% to keep Hatton from pulling out. The weight class is to 154lb so he could weigh anywhere from 147.01 - 154 lbs and the belt would be on the line.

That makes sense, I didnt know it was a catchweight. How much was he over the contractual weight of 150?
