Default Froch to fight Andrade May 5th?

Just read a post on Facebook from the offical Carl Froch site, it's saying a May 5th showdown with Librado Andrade is an option as Andrade is highly ranked with the IBF and this if Froch can win set him up nicely to fight Bute.

I personally think its a good homecoming fight for Froch because no doubt it's going to be a war for the fans. Andrade is tough as nails and will come to fight and will push Froch. I would lean towards Froch winning a later stoppage or a large UD. What do you think?

I do believe Froch is a work in progress still and will KO Andrade pretty much as he pleases!!!

Froch will go on and beat Bute and then go up to Light Heavy and be a Champ again!!!

That's a pretty good action fight. There won't be a whole lot of defense!

It's a good fight. I see the point of Froch wanting a gimme fight after going through the gauntlet that was the S6.

Is this the first time in Froch's career that he is avoiding a tough fight for an easier one? I believe so...

Who is he avoiding though? Bute? He wants to fight him but show time want an American opponanent for Bute. Froch is fighting Andrade to get a better IBF rating so that he can secure a Bute showdown through being his mandatory.

It's a decent fight, and Froch deserve to take somewhat of a break after the S6. A fight with Bute right after the S6 would have been crazy. The guy has been through the ringer in the S6, i can't imagine him jumping right in with Bute. I know he wanted it, too bad Showtime is playing games. I think he stops Andrade in 8-9

What you are implying is that Froch will force the Bute fight by becoming his mandatory? If Showtime wasn't interested in the fight now, why would they be interested in the fight if Froch beats Andrade? From what I gather, Bute was willing to move forward with or without Showtime's support as an out-of-contract fight, similiar to the Mendy fight in Romania last summer. It sounds like Froch wants a tune-up fight against Andrade to get back in the win column and to fight in his hometown. I understand the reasoning. It's just this is his first time of taking an easier fight instead of a difficult one.

I remember reading this is Butes last fight with showtime on their contract and they wanted an American for that. Are you telling me after Froch has fought so many tough fights against quality fighters he would duck Bute? No way he would it's the fight Froch wants because it makes sense for the 168 weight class. The thing is Bute wants the Froch fight too, but end of the day it's up to showtime who he fights so there's nothing they can do until at least their next fight.

I think Froch fighting Andrade is good though, hes been on the road for a while and I think a good tough confidence booster in Andrade isn't a bad thing to set up a potential Bute fight IMO.

I think this is a great fight personally. I don't think Froch has the power to stop Andrade so this could be a 12 round war IMO. Great fight for the fans unless Froch chooses to box like he did against Abraham and not let Andrade get anywhere near inside.

This may be the fight froch wants to show off his new inside fighting skills he learned from ward and we may see an even more dangerous froch as a result

It's quite alright if Froch wants an easy fight for the first time but still, I really hope that Showtime will come back on his decision and that Froch-Bute will happen.

Even if froch took on a welterweight it would be fine as his last 7 odd fights have been tougher than anyone's he deserves it.

It appears that Froch sees this as a keep busy type of fight on home soil, which is good considering the tough fights he has had already.
