Ring vacancy rules state that the # 1 and 2 ranked fighters would fight each other, but these are Froch and Abraham. Froch is out of action at the moment, and anyway is eyeing other targets. Abraham is set for a rematch against the unranked Paul Smith this weekend. So where does that leave us? I'd say just move everyone up a notch.... as the rankings across the different alphabet organizations are complicated enough as it is. -

in #2 at 168 fails the litmus test on legitimacy anyway. You remove the best fighter at 168 on a what have you done for me lately premise and yet have Arthur at 2 and poised to fight for the Ring tile. You just cant make this shit up. -

I've been critical of Ward and still am but the Ring has joined the likes of the Wbc with their situational rankings system and are eroding their credibility with late moves like this. A promoter should have never been allowed to own this boxing institution. -

I'm Helter skelter on it. The Ring lost me at Broner #5 p4p and glossy cologne ads but going from THE champ to being dropped from top 10 altogether with green kids like Gilberto Rameriez still there is its own spit-take.

You've got to fight to be ranked. He looked like a million bucks destroying Dawson, and he had one fight and now it's been what, a year and a half since he fought? He's throwing his prime years away.

Ward's biggest problem is that he thinks he's clever. in reality , all this is making him look a bit stupid. He's tried to fuck with promoters/managers and it has completely fucked his career up. He's also either too proud for his own good or very arrogant. I like Ward , he seems a sound guy and is a very talented boxer.
But sometimes you make bad decisions financially and you have to take the medicine , bite down hard and learn from your mistakes. no matter what he says, He will NEVER make up for that lost time in his career. -

He doesn't like the contract he signed so he's choosing to sit out.
It was his choice to sign the contract initially and his choice to re-sign with the same promoter. It's also his choice to stall and wait his contract out rather than man up and fight through his poor decision making.
Ward could fight every week, instead he's sitting in the corner with poo in his diaper crying about his unfair contract.
