Ring vacancy rules state that the # 1 and 2 ranked fighters would fight each other, but these are Froch and Abraham. Froch is out of action at the moment, and anyway is eyeing other targets. Abraham is set for a rematch against the unranked Paul Smith this weekend. So where does that leave us? I'd say just move everyone up a notch.... as the rankings across the different alphabet organizations are complicated enough as it is.

There is a certain comedy to all this. Did Oscar think he was going to sign with him and decided to punish him? Not a peep until the guy decides to come back from self imposed exile? He has been coddled imo and has milked it but come on. And besides, anybody that puts Arthur freakin Abraham
in #2 at 168 fails the litmus test on legitimacy anyway. You remove the best fighter at 168 on a what have you done for me lately premise and yet have Arthur at 2 and poised to fight for the Ring tile. You just cant make this shit up.

Shame he never got the emeritus tag before he sat out cause that way he could come back like Vital did and get an immediate title shot.

The Ring has turned into a joke and its not just this example.If I was Ward I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Nat Fleischer however is probably rolling in his grave. I've been critical of Ward and still am but the Ring has joined the likes of the Wbc with their situational rankings system and are eroding their credibility with late moves like this. A promoter should have never been allowed to own this boxing institution.

I'm Helter skelter on it. The Ring lost me at Broner #5 p4p and glossy cologne ads but going from THE champ to being dropped from top 10 altogether with green kids like Gilberto Rameriez still there is its own spit-take.
