new headgear and gloves

getting new head gear and new 16oz gloves because one of my trainers said my headgear was cheap and was not thich enough and to get headgear thats more than 60 bucks and needs to be thick and padded well!I need help finding the right headgear and 16oz gloves for a good price and what headgear do you guys have and what gloves?

Mine's a simple laceup that costed me about 10 bucks for a pair and it fits pretty well. I prefer to spar without headgear but in away using it gets you used to it ha ha. I don't know what your trainers are telling you but you don't need a headgear like a pillow it doesn't take much off a hard shot and in fact it obstructs your vision. You can't see out of the corners of your eye, and the ones with chin protectors can make it little harder to put your chin down.

As for gloves it's worth going a little in your pocket for. What you need is a boxing glove that allows you to make a fist in it. I see a lot of gloves these days that keep you from making a fist and in away that contributes to broken hands. If you can find some look for vintage boxing gloves, the kind with cotten or hair padding is more flexible for your hands over the foam padding of today.

I know the internet means you don't have to leave your house to buy things but you're really not getting soming that fits you if you go online. If you can go to a store and try on the gloves, or the headgear than you can figure out which suits you best.

so i mean what would you do i want something thats got alot of padding but doesnt mess with my performance and as to the gloves i cant find the right kind for 60 bucks

If you see have ever seen horse and carriage you can see that the horse has blinders that limits what it sees. In boxing you can't afford to have blinders especially when you need do dodge punches using your periferal vision.

As for gloves if you could find the vintage kind you'll be making an investment on your hands. Let think for sec, you could however use one of today's gloves and make a fist in it if you use the gloves everyday. Then the question would be instead of finding the right gloves but to break in a pair of gloves. There you go that should take cair of the problem.

You should try out the headgear or gloves first to see how it fits. Besides that you should be okay, check ebay or you're local sporting goods store; from what I found store prices are cheaper than the Title/Everlast catalogues and often better than online prices. Sometimes you'll find a cheaper price on ebay but a lot of people are willing to pay more than a bargain price for an item. That's it just be careful and get what best suits you.

I've always assumed the purpose of the headgear wasn't to soften the blows, but to protect the skin from cuts and bruises. No headgear I've ever worn has made the punches hurt less (to any noticeable amount), but they do stop me from getting bruises, bumps and cuts. I'd just find a headgear that you feel comfortable in and that obstructs you as little as possible. As stated, the bigger gear can tend to obstruct your vision and prevent you from keeping your chin down, which can cause some bad habits to form, I'd imagine.

I don't know why a lot of trainers make fuss over the equipment if you see those boys from cuba they're kick ass and most of their training gear is shodddy to say the least.

Ive never worn headgear for the purpose of softening blows....

If i ever do its for the purpose of one person wearing it so that no accidental heabutts occur and i dont get cut.. But then again it doesnt fuss me..
If i havtn a fight lined up then i wont wear headgear..It feels uncomfortable to me.. and does no good for bruising etc...Just for shots arounf the ear or back of the head..Ear shots are rare but painfull..
And back of the head is illegal.. and i get mighty miffed off when i snap out of the daze of getting hit with one..
So i dont usually expect them.. Lol
