Good one. That also sounds like a good way for a boxer to loosen up if things are going stale in training.

It helps some, I found that when learning how to dance you get a feel for where your feet are, this comes in handy in boxing because of all the shifts and movement it becomes a part of all things considered. On the flipside it can be a good fun workout. I bet you finding your a little quicker now in your footwork, stuff like dancing and fast paced skipping helps because it forces you to do move faster than what you're normally accustomed to.

Right on ICeman ! CC in 24

Evander Holyfield loves to hit the dance floor.. He will actually incorporate dance moves into his boxing routine... watch some vintage Holyfield fights .. fucking brilliant footwork. notice he always have a great rhythm.. and will fire shots off that rhythm . its very hard to disrupt it.

Boxing is rhythmic. So if you have rhythm instilled in you… right there you have an up on the average man in learning boxing footwork and movement.

The great Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton took ballet lessons to help him with his footwork. Watch films of him in action, need I say more? He could also squat over 600 lbs. for reps. Hey, use whatever works.

I think the subject is a little miss leading.... "Dancing to improve footwork"??

I think dancing to improve mobility, timing, flexibility, co-ordination would be great...
But not dancing to improve "footwork" in the sense that the word "footwork" refers to on here...

If anyone saw Kostya Tsyzu on "Dancing with the Stars", you would see where boxing and dancing don't mix in terms of footwork. Everytime the dance called for KT to cross his legs, his "boxing/footwork brain" told him "no, no" and he almost feel over himself every time...
And if you watch Kostya in the ring, he is a genuine boxer! and a great boxer! because he had boxing principles, footwork, stance, movement, punches imbedded so solidly in his brain that he couldn't even break them even for a few steps for a few seconds, for the sake of a dance...

I think the only way to improve footwork for boxing is to working on your boxing....
I guess maybe i'm being a bit perdantic,,, but boxing is about building such a solid base in your brain and your body about how your feet should work, that when your in the ring you don't even have to think about your feet, they just work like a machine that was purely programed to move like a boxer...... If you started to become a little more proficient with your dance moves than your boxing stance then you'd probably end up getting caught off balance more times than anyone would like.

Well that's just my 2cents worth.... Now bust a move ya'll

Although you could take showboating to a whole new level!!!!

And a good 2 cents, makes sense, problem is its sometime good to go away and try something different for movement and response its refreshing when trying movement and having a bit of fun theres so many ways to adapt to learning skills. but a good point if a little severe cc
