That's part of it. A hard jab is more than fast hands and a good stiff arm, more power can begotten out of putting your body in motion. Take a look at the boxing manual I just posted.
On the subject regarding punching power I got to say that power is lost in the joints. The wrist, elbow, shoulder, knees, ankles, etc. Proper alignment, good weight shifts and physical conditioning can help. As you can imagine a strong bicep can prevent power from exiting from the elbow, a strong tricep and shoulders can help maintain the power line at the moment of contact. Even muscles in the hips, back and legs have a key point when it comes to punching power. In Kinesiology (the study of human biomechanical movement) agonists may be the key movers, but agonists play a big part and in regards to boxing they prevent you from losing more power.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.
