Default WHy hasn't Winky gotten a big fight sine B-Hop?

I'm not sure if he's even foughten since B-Hop, but losing a close fight to Bernard IMO should have raised his stock, especially because they fought way higher than he has ever foughten against a bigger man. Winky IMO is hte best middleweight in the world or close to it, I think he beat Jermain more clearly than Pavlik did the second time, and I feel that he would be an excellent match up for Pavlik. If people want to love Pavlik then keep him responsible for not fighting guys like Duddy(who He would have if Duddy had won) or Lockett(a waste of time). Don't be bitter that WInky didn't fight you on your way up Kelly, He was busy fighting legitimate opponents in Taylor, Hopkins, Quartey, etc. Now that your up at this level fight WInky, He's a legend and he deserves every big fight there is out there for him.

I would also like to see WInky fight RJJ after Roy fights Calzaghe, I think that would be a interesting fight.

That pretty much sums it up. He's also (reportedly) difficult in negotiations.

Winky's got a reputation of being hard to deal with. Whether that's true or just an excuse not to fight him is debatable I guess.

I'd be shocked if Arum put Pavlik in with Winky. Not so much because he thinks Pav has no chance but because it could easily be a lose-lose situation. There's already been speculation that Winky's getting past it so if Pav wins people could easily discredit that by saying Winky's old and shot. If Pav loses that's obviously not a good thing and its almost impossible to look good against Winky anyway.

I've read he expects alot of money for fights, But after a super boring loss he isn't hot like he was after beating on Felix Trinidad and he's never been a draw by himself, so nobodys willing to pay him the big bucks. So either he gets real and drops his asking price or drifts off quietly into retirement.

Every fight going back to the negotiations for the first Taylor fight, promoters have complained about Wnky's high demands.

I think the major sticking point these days is his formation of Winky Promotions and he wants a cut of the promotional end of things and that's something not Arum definitely won't give up.

I don't know if he beats Pavlik, he would definitely be Pavlik's toughest test. I am still bitter, I think he should have been middleweight champion of the world a long time ago. I thought the scores in the Hopkins fight were a joke and Hopkins simply outdirtied a clean fighter in Winky to win. How two judges saw only 3 rounds for Winky, stuff like that bothers me.

He should be fighting though. That much I'm certain of, I want to see him in the ring against anyone, just to see how he looks. He was much more stationary in the Hopkins fight moreso then he ever has been in his career. Whether that was gameplan or his legs fading I don't know, but I want to see him go out there and look good. I would love to see Oscar man up and fight him after all these years but doesn't look like that is going to be the case.

Hopkins fought well against Winky, but I think Winky lost by a round or two.. the decision if I was the judge would have been razor thin. I don't understand why guys like Pavlik who should have been looking up to Winky for the last 6-8 years would not give him, his just due. He is an amazing fighter(still in my top 5 p4p skillswise), and he deserves this Pavlik fight, he was screwed over in both the Taylor and HOpkins fights, not to mention against Vargas, against Simon(IMO)... I only see him losing twice in his career, and one was against B-Hop, the other was a lot earlier in his career.

Winky is notorious for pricing himself out of fights. He is not nearly as popular as he preceives himself. He has turned down/priced himself out of numerous fights since losing to Hopkins.

I don't think Pavlik isn't giving him his due. He's open to fight anybody it seems, it's Arum who handles that stuff and it's Arum who says Winky priced himself out. I think it had more to do with Winky wanting more of Bob's take rather then Pavlik's.

Winky was on ESPN2 last wednesday I think, hopefully we hear an announcement on what he's doing soon.

This I don't understand. What Winky fight has been boring? Aside from Hopkins but some liked that fight and was on a great card. Trinidad might have been boring because he was dominating but people make him out to be Corey Spinks and he's not. There are plenty of fighters who have had way more boring fights then Winky. He may not be Miguel Cotto in terms of excitement but no way he's a boring fighter.

If anything he delivers excitement consistently especially compared to other fighters who are never called boring. How come you're liable to get neg repped for calling Vernon Forrest or Joshua Clottey boring but people call Winky boring with no real grounds for doing so?

Totally agree mate, its a shame because Winky is a brilliant fighter. He gets little credit for what he's done but he ain't exiting or interesting enough to generate interest among casual fans. That's where the money is really.

    Tough shit really

He did at least flat out refuse to fight Kessler this spring, saying 'what has he ever done to deserve that?', a fight HBO was interested in setting up.

Never made it to the negotiation stage, so dunno if a lot of money could have made Winky change his mind. Does IMO show though that at least Winky rates himself higher (or more valuable) that the networks do.
