Default Need help about a sprained wrist please help!

I've sprained my wrist when training at the boxing gym through hitting the punchbag and floor exercises. Any ideas of helping it heal as i cant return to boxing at the moment until it has healed.
Any tips would be very very grateful

That sucks. I know because it happened to both my wrists.

Aside from rest, there probably isn't much you can do except make sure you get enough calcium and vitamin D in your diet so the bones have material they can make repairs with.

One nice thing about the skeletal system is that when a bone is damaged or stressed, it re-builds itself up stronger when it repairs. So hopefully you won't have to deal with this again.

But yeah, I found a month off from the gym was the only way to make that pain go away, permanently.

One thing you might do to avoid this in the future is to ask your coach to double-check your punching technique. If you are over-extending your hook punches it will stress the bones in your wrist (I learned the hard way about that.) I imagine improper technique with other punches could also hurt...

    Best of luck!

Train what you can roadwork etc.. When done right good shadowboxing is the best excercise for a boxer bar sparring.

I recommend arnica cream over your wrist to speed up healing, along with applying mild heat to increase circulation. It may also help to mix in some witch hazel and/or MSM cream with the arnica cream to reduce any remaining inflammation.

If it's just a mild sprain you probably won't have any trouble working with the double-end bag or the speed bag, but stay away for exercises that put more strain on your wrist such as hitting the heavy bag and sparring.

If I were you, I would use this time for learning. Work on technique, watch fights, start a stretching program, get proficient at jumping rope, etc. If you've already payed the monthly fee at the gym you can still go there and get a good work nonetheless with the adjustments that you will have to make.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

Wrap it up with ice in 15-20 mintute's intervels at a time.Rest your wrist up for a couple of weeks,so dont try and work out on the heavy bag in the meen time mate.Another great tip too mate,is to dab a bit of WITCH HAZEL on your wrist because that will bring out any brusing that might be there. You can get WITCH HAZEL from more or less anywhere such as supermarkets or Boots.Good luck on healing up my friend!!
