to build muscle and get cuts
I use it for recovery. My workouts are often intense, and I don't carry much body fat. So after workouts I found I was often dealing with muscle strains, due to a lack of stored fats. Was constantly injuring myself. What essentially was happening, was that in trying to recover my muscle was not getting the protein required to rebuild right, and were essentially attacking themselves, instead of repairing and promoting muscle growth.
Started protein shakes, 30g plus 5g of L-glutamine in an effort to give them the nourishment they required. 5-10 mins after workouts. This can be done with food also. Tuna, chicken, steak, milk etc...but the process of breaking those down is not as fast as say a whey protein. Also, it is likely more expensive with those foods then it is to supplement.
Others use gainer proteins to bulk up. I don't have much experience with that, so likely someone else can help in that area. I tend to think for gaining, it can be done more with altering ones diet, adding fats and carbs, but as I say...no experience in that department.
ok thanx youngblood yeh i saw some of those recovery ones at the store but yeh ima ask around in my gym to see wat other r using an wat not
Muscle mass, and yes I live for Protein shakes
Muscle milk is one of the best ones I've run across; good for recovery, building, and taste great...
simplest way to get the results you want are, a la trainer monkey take morning and night, or post workout. I wouldn't do all three or anymore than 50g - 75g daily, (lots of theory out there that says you can't support in terms of muscle growth anymore than 75g -80g daily).
this being a boxing not body building website, your best bet is to make your shakes with water, as to not incur any unnecessary calories. skim milk is a close second if you can't take the taste of powder and water.
now, if you were looking to gain mass, mix your drinks with milk and peanut butter or with fruit juice.
also, it can't be said enough that chicken and tuna are your friends, as well as plain baked potatoes, spinach, and whole wheat bread.
