Larry is a love him or hate him kinda guy..

As far as his boxing career goes im really not very well educated on him..

But from what i hear about the guy he sounds like a genius

EXTREMELY talented but much like Rocky he wasn't blessed with the competition Ali was blessed with.

He had a weak division but he dominated and although he lacked power he had the ability to make up for it and still stop fighters

Larry is a love him or hate him kinda guy..

Put me down in the "hate" column. His boxing skills notwithstanding, I never saw such a whining, complaining, arrogant, and disrespectful boxer as Larry in those times. His quote about Marciano was totally classless, and his constant whining about racism in boxing (he was about as racist as they come) made me dislike him intensely. Good businessman or not, generous with his hometown or not, Larry's one guy I've NEVER liked. I was glad when Tyson KTFO'ed him.

Larry was a great fighter but have you ever read his autobiography?...I have never heard a man sound so bitter while being so self serving....

For a guy who strung together so many title victories, he was decidedly unpopular. And he did take a lot of racial crap, especially leading up to the Cooney fight, So I don't blame the guy for being a little bitter.
