    Default Hatton was a Fluke!!

According to some, Hatton got LUCKY when he beat Kostya Tszyu at the right old age of 36! Was Hattons subsequent build up setting hm up to fail. I still reckon he can beat the guys holding belts at 140, but maybe that win convinced some experts, he had his one glorious night, and he was biting off more than he could chew with younger top guys like Mayweather and Hatton. The marketing for both fights were excellent, they almost made me believe Hatton had a chance.

Not taking anything away from Kosta, but tell me who did Kosta ever beat in his career?? Zab Judah is his best win, if you look at Hattons resume and Kostas you will see there is not much difference in the level of fighter they have beaton.

Kosta was p4p number 3 he was 36 but Bernard Hopkins is 44 and p4p number 3. Age is irrelevant Kosta was fresh as a dasiy actully had less rounds on the clock than Hatton did, had just come of brutal 3rd round knockout of Shambra Mitchell who some thought would take Kosta out. Kosta maybe not at his very peak but nowhere near past it and gave Hatton a great fight.

Hatton was a good world champion and beat some decent opponents, he just is not elite which is the same for many boxers, Hatton was beaton by amazing fighters and two of the best of his generation.

Hatton was to strong for Kosta as was Vince Phillips, it was no fluke Hatton was in his prime and around that time beats most world class fighters.

I don't think Hatton was a fluke. He is a very good fighter but somewhere along the way has got into the notion that he can just walk through everybody. He's found out the hard way twice that he can't do that.

I think he did catch Kostya at the right time, but Kostya was obviously still a force and would have beaten most people that night. It was Hattons moment and he walked through fire to take it. He seemed to take the same approach in too many of his fights afterwards though and opponents eventually sussed him out. It's a shame really because Hatton could be a cute boxer when he put his mind to it.

Hatton probably can still clean up at 140 if he has the right mindset. But I do worry about his ability to take a punch now. Only Hatton knows what he has left and we will find out soon enough.

World champion for ten years, and a long resume of guys he beat who held belts. Kostya was 35, a couple of months shy of 36, 4 months down the track. Some names Rodrigues, Pineda, Mayweather, Gonzalez, Ruelas, Chavez, Judah when he was actually a good fighter, Mitchell. Kostya was about 36 when he lost. Ricky to be world champion for ten years, I don't think so,

We all saw what happens to Hatton when the opponent has a ref who wll call a break. So Manchester style refs lead to different results, dont they. Hatton was a club fighter at distance.

Tszyu was p4p no3 according to some sources, p4p no2 others. Look at Marquez, he would get smashed by Tszyu at 140, as way less power, similar game, but also a lesser pressure fighter. The can both counter punch. Marquez won the majority of his 24 rounds with Pacquiao, and he is rated p4p no2.

Hatton cannot even go a full two rounds with Pacquiao, let alone 2 rounds.Fresh..Tszyu hadn't fought more than 3 rounds in nearly two years, and was near Julio Cesar Chavez's age. I give Hatton as much credit for beating Tszyu, as I give Kostya for beating Julio Cesar Chavez. Both guys were old, though the Hatton fight was relatively close. Most guys over 30 are old in boxing terms, Hopkins is the exception. Now Hatton has this problem. Aside from his lucky day, who else can Hatton beatr when their actually still pretty good??

I think the same Marquez who won more rounds than Pacquiao over 24 would get hammered by Tszyu. Tell me one thing Marquez can do at this weight better than Tszyu, proven over 10 years. Nothing. Anyway, I still reckon Hatton can beat most other guys holding belts who are outside that upper echelon. He should win a belt, make some money then call it a day woth abit better pride.

    Are you being serious??

Give your head a big wobble mate, you compare Hatton beating p4p number 3 fighter the same as beating JCC Snr the same, youve lost the plot mate, Chevez was done, nowhere to be seen in anyones rankings already dismanteled by Oscar twice, have a look at the fighters records Chevez was fighting after his second ko defeat to Oscar. He was fighting the local bin men from Mexico. You also state Mayweather as a decent win? The same Roger who had been beaton 11 times?? Get your cock out of Kosta bum mate hes a great guy great fighter but dont overhype things here.

Yes i agree Kosta had more time at number 1 but who did he beat? Zab Judah is a great win? Zab Judah is poor mate at the time it was a decent win but Judah has only ever beat Cory Spinks. Just look at the fighters Hatton has fought and the fighters Kosta has fought:

    Kosta Hatton

    JCC Snr - Phillips
    Gonzalez - Maussa
    Mitchell twice - Collazo
    Urkal - Uranga
    Judah - Castillo
    Tackie - Lazcano
    Leija - Mallinaggi

    Lost Lost

    Phillips - Mayweather
    Pacquio

Now given Kosta reign was for 10 years but he fought fuck all in all honesty in ten years weather it was a fault of his or not, but Hatton and Kostas resume is not much difference in terms of quality, i mean Ricky packed them names into his resume in the space of 3-4 years. Kosta fought his names over space of 10-11.

Kosta great fighter pity he didnt do more to prove his greatness.

Serious mate you dont really know alot do you??

Most boxers are old in boxing terms lol.

Have you seen the top 7 p4p rankings rite now?

    1. Mayweather 32
    2. Pacquiao 30
    3. Marquez 35
    4. Hopkins 44
    5. Mosley 37
    6. Vazquez 31
    7. Marquez 34

I mean there you have it your assesment that if your over 30 your basically finished, i suppose the facts show how accurate you are .

Number one and two are up for debate at the moment but the point is there both in the top seven and are both over 30.

Beating the p4p no 3, doesnt make you top 5 p4p. Chavez was way better than any guy Hatton ever beat outside Tszyu. He's on the list. Tell me a guy Kostya wouldn't cane that Hatton fought, if the guy was as old as Phillips.

Try find ANYONE in the U.S. who thinks Hatton is better than Tszyu now, OR EVEN THEN. When the last time you saw Kostya Tszyu dismantled.. Never been done. Even when he lost, he still got some things done, and the man was 35!!

Gonzalez was MUCH better than a shot Castillo, as was Ruelas, as was Rodriguez, as was Pineda, as was almost everyone. Can you tell me in which way is a guy like Malinaggi anywher near a Sharmba Mitchel when he actually fought. Roger Mayweather was Tszyu first title defence, and he didnt win 1 round.

Like Phillips even compares to an old Julio Cesar Chavez. Kostya Tszyu was one year plus less age than Chavez. Who will Hatton be able to beat 4 months short of 36. Hatton was NEVER top 5 p4p. He had his LUCKY night in Manchester. Collozao, is that supposed to be your idea of a top boxer? I'll give you a top boxer, we can even go into the anateurs. Vernon Forrest.

Marquez won more rounds over 24 than Pacquiao. He would get killed against Tszyu at 140, he cannot do anything better. He cant pressure fight as well, they both can counter punch, though Tszyu is way more powerful, and has a much better right hand.

Hatton can't even do two rounds with Pacquiao, the same guy Marquez bettered over 24 in most peoples opinion. Tszyu was almost the same age as Julio Cesar Chavez. Tszyu was just plain OLD. Throw in a ref who cant give Kostya a break. We all saw what happens to Hatton in Vegas. A fair ref, Hatton gets KOed, again, by an old man.

Besides living off his victory over an old man, if you call beating a shot Castillo an accomplishment, what else has he ever doen.

Your joking, you want to use Hopkins as the rule. Mosely lost a million and 5 times, and he's closer tyo the guy who lost to Cotto, than giving a beat down of overated hand wrap plaster of Paris sensation Margarito. Those two guys atre exceptions, particularly Hopkins, as Mosely will lose again to Cotto.

Since when do guys like Vazquez even compare to Tszyu, and he's 31. Mayweather is in for his last spell before he's too old. Over 30 is oldish for a fighter. Tszyu almost 36 is your idea of Just Fine.. Get off it mate. Pacquiao 30, again way younger. Marquez 35, he is going to turn old infront of a rusty Mayweather, who wont show any rist.

Again, what can Marquez do at 140 better than Tszyu. Hatton would be lucky to be top 20 these days. Since Marquez is rated p4p no2, he's almost ten times the man Hatton is now. Hatton got owned by a flyweight. The two losses Tszyu had, one was he just got beat.

Against Tszyu, he fought two guys at the same time with Dave Paris, and Hatton proved he was the better wrestler submitting the old man who came for a boxing contest. I've never seen Tszyu embarrssed like that, ever. Even when he lost, it was still close. Hatton got OWNED by a flyweight..

First off when did I say beating Kosta makes you a p4p top 5?? Go and look at the two lists of fighters beaton and at what stage they beat them and like i said and people who havent got there tongues firmly stuck inside Kostas bumhole will see the list is pretty similar in terms of who they beat, Kosta will go down as probably a better 140 fighter than Hatton just for the fact he rules longer, but to give Kosta the credit you are giving him at beating an old man Chevez as unbelievable, Chevez would of dismanteld Kosta in his prime, what the hell do you keep going on about Marquez for?? Styles make fights who has mentioned Marquez except for you, when did Hatton get ko'd by an old man, your seriously deluded if you think Haton beating Kosta was ther same magnitude as Kosta beating Chevez. Fanboys like you give these pages a bad name.

Hold your horses there in a previous post you stated:

" Most guys over 30 are old in boxing terms "

So i just proved that you are talking a load of bullshit, as the facts prove most fighters are in there prime at 30+, what the hell you talking about?? You stated most boxers are old in boxing terms and i showed you the facts that majority boxers are actully the opposite and in there prime, so again your wrong, oh but now you say Pac is still youngish make your mind up you keep contradicting yourself.

Except the fact, Tszyu beat Chavez at a very similar age to what Tszyu was when Hatton beat him. As much as you don't like it, that is the facts.

Hatton beat an old Vince Phillips. I brought up Marquez, coz he bettered Pacquiao over 24 rounds, and he is a lesser fighter than Tszyu in the lightweight divisions. You know, the same Pacquiao Hatton couldn't go two rounds with. I suppose Hatton is Pacquiaos version of Zab judah. Two round sensation.

When the last form Sharmba Mitchell Hatton ever beat. Whens the last Gonzalez, Ruelas whoever.

Hatton beat an OLD man in Tszyu. The facts are, Tszyu did his old man in Julio way easier. They were 1 year plus age differences when thet lost, Kostya and Julio. As much as you dont like it, Tszyu beat teh greatest Mexican fighter in history. Hatton beat an old guy, and nobody else. Like Collzao was anywhere near as good as Sharmba Mitchell before he got old, are you serious. Did the guy twice. Hatton go lucky.

LOOK, I reckon Hatton is pretty good, only wasnt as good as Mayweather. Against Pacquiao, he cant fight a southpaw Hatton, Worst guy in the world to fight. If he reckons he can, why the heck is Matthew Hatton going to fight Zab Judah oin the Marquez undercard. It should be Ricky fighting Judah, and if he should lose to Judah.........well, you'll never hear the end of it.

I was wrong. I tipped Pacquiao by decision. Hatton didn evn make it to the end of round two..

Oh no honestly you need help mate big help, age is a number mate, obviously its not registering.

By the way Marquez will go down as a better fighter than Kosta and will be ranked higher on the greatest of all time list by quite a margin.

Chevez was old in age and old in boxing terms the amount of rounds he had been knocked out badly before he fought Kosta, Kosta was a heavily odds on favourite to win the fight, Kosta was also a heavily odds on to beat Hatton, you are one strange person if you really think them to fights are on the same level of importance and relevance.

Over 30 in boxing is getting on the older side. The fact Pacquiao and Hatton are intheir early 30's ok. When your in your mid 30''s, that when most fighters will turn old overnight.

When Hatton fought Tszyu, I saw the man turn old before my eyes. Didnt even resemble the guy he used to be. And he still made it to the stool in round 11 before quitting. In De La Hoya's case, he quit in round 6 or whatever it was, just like Tyson. Mosely needed steroids to beat Oscar in a rematch. Tszyu needed a cane to get to the ring at 2am, and still Hatton had a rough fight mugging an old guy in the early morning.

So its took you four years to come to this judgement and crawl out from under your rock? Oh no sorry your belief that he was old has just been confirmed by the fact Hatton was knocked out in 2 rounds, so tell me what happened to young Kosta minus the walking stick when he was beat up by Vince Philips?
