I'd try keep my right foot outside of his and circle to the right. This is good for a number of reasons, by doing so you'll have some good opportunities by staying outside of his left, and you'll be stumbling less when you step to your right.

From there you can take a quick step to the right and hit him with a right hook. Continue with another pivot/step the right to get to his side (this a good position to be in) and if you see an opening throw a hard straight left, or even a left uppercut between his gloves would be good.

Since your opponent brings his hands up to his face, he's not paying much attention to what's coming next. So try a 1-2 to get his hands up, and then step to his side and pop him with a quick right hook to the body or head. I'd also practice following the right hook with a straight left and vice-versa.

Anyways It's not bad to have your right hand down from time to so long you're jabbing, and you're using pivots and head movements to avoid their leads. I'd try to keep it up in the same way that you do when you're about to catch a ball. With it there, you can use it more assertively, both defensively and offensively. You can knock down their jab with your right hand, and then fire the jab over it while you're stepping to the right.

Don't be afraid to jab to the body. The jab to the solar-plexus (that's the sensitive spot below where your ribs meet), gives them sickening feeling that they won't like! Try a quick jab their solar-plexus and then if they bring their hands down, throw straight left. Once they become self-conscientious about the jab to the body, you can feint with your right, which might be just jerking your right shoulder forward and half jabbing, and then if it works hit them with your left again.

I liked how you bent at the waist to avoid their punches, you should watch James Toney's fight with Vasilliy Jirov. He'd lean low to the side under Jirov's southpaw jabs.

Anyways, these are just some of things that you can try.

Worry more about technique then style. I think u be trying to style too much. That'll come but means nothing until you got good basics down. I don't know your experience but you're gonna get creamed if you run into a good amatuer!

Seriously tho, look for the criticisms and consider their sources. If ya want people to tell u what is good about it, you're looking for the wrong thing. Pay attention to the negatives because fixing those are what is going to improve ya.

Keep in mind, I'm not being mean, I'm just trying to help.

    1. You didn't throw ONE JAB that entire round. You pawed your hand out as a measuring stick, but you never got behind your shoulder and fully extended the jab, even ONCE.

    2. You are NOWHERE near fast enough to keep your hands that low. The guy you were sparring hit you cleanly way too many times that round, and he is NOT that fast.

    3. You never truly boxed the guy. You caught him coming in a few times, but for the most part you just stood in front of him. You need to move in and out, then step to the side.

    4. Stop waiting your turn. When your opponent finally began to throw punches, you didn't do anything. Just because he's punching doesn't mean you can't. Actually, punching your opponent is many times the best way to get him to stop punching you.

How long have you been boxing and how many fights do you have?

i been boxing for 3years on and off..i had 4amatuer fights..won all 4 of them ..won 2 of them (the last 2) by tko..all 4 times my opponents have been bigger then me .i weighted in at 136 all of them were around 145.....and the reason i dont have more amateur fights..is simply because of woman trouble lol..i was in love ..she broke my heart ..and u know how that goes.

Another thing..I keep tellin u all the video of me Sparring was in Jan 2009.....that was the first time i spared since oct 2008......im usually REALLY QUICK..and the moves i do, i can pull them off. (like putting my hands down)....if u look at my last amateur fight..i hardly got hit...not tryna b cocky but thats the truth.

Personally what I liked most in the video was the trainer yelling. "JAB! JAB! COME On NOW!" The only thing I want to comment on is your footwork. The whole video I was thinking move out of the way. Stick & move man. Throw a 1-2 then step to the right. Throw a 1-2-3 step to the left. Always try to turn your opponent to keep them from getting settled. Other than that keep practicing since the video wasn't bad.

I'm only a beginner and have only sparred a couple of times but this doesn't look fair. This is what it would look like if one of the actual competitive boxers at my gym was sparring me 100%! Your opponent doesn't even look fit enough to spar. He looks so unconfident. Looks like a guy who just started sparring after spending a couple of months on the bag. I've seen guys spar who actually fight and he doesn't look like one of them.

Sparring isn't about it being fair, it's about learning. On Wednesday I sparred a 13 yr old girl her first time in the ring. My coach put her in with me because he figured I'd have the best self-control as she weighs about 80 lbs soaken wet and was quite afraid.

As it turns out, she did pretty good and kept asking me to not take it easy (lol) and I finally at one point gave her the lightest tap I could muster. And she went down like a shot duck! hahaha

Oh well. I hear she is telling the story at her school about it, how she went a hard round and got KO'd but will kick my ass one day. So it's all good.
