    Default lucky punches

the luckiest punch in boxing history was lennox lewis' left hook in the 7th round of his world title defence again frank bruno at wembley stadium

after dominating the action throughout Bruno had the canadian pinned in the corner, lewis closed his eyes put his head down and took a hopeful wild swing, a momentary lack of concentration from bruno and the punch landed in the perfect spot on the point of the jaw

If it had landed anywhere else bruno would have finished his man

but can you think of any other lucky punches that have, maybe, turned a fight in such a way?

I don't believe in lucky punches but Audley's last gasp lefthook on Sprott has to be one of the "luckiest" ever. Not only did it win him a fight he was certain to lose it led to a "world" title shot and millions payday.

How Bruno's head stayed attached to the rest of him I dont know. Wasnt lucky though, Frank was going through his headlock and rabbit punch routine and got splatted.

Julian Jackson vs. Herol Graham - Boxrec Boxing Encyclopaedia

In this vacant WBC World Middleweight championship match, Graham was in complete control of this fight till to the surprise ending, landing heavy shots which hurt Jackson badly and winning every round. Jackson was behind on all scorecards, and his eyes were swelling shut. At the end of the 3rd round, the ringside doctor said to Jackson's corner "You have only one more round or the bout will be stopped." The start of round four was controlled by Graham, and numerous heavy shots had Jackson in trouble. Graham went in for the KO with Jackson against the ropes in a corner. Jackson swung a counter right hook bomb over a lazy left to the chin of Graham in the midst of getting pummeled. Graham was out cold before he hit the canvas, and remained out on the canvas for some time. Jackson, the WBA Light Middleweight champion, was making a comeback by moving up in weight class to Middleweight after surgery to repair detached retinas in both eyes in 1989. His one punch kayo bomb is this world title bout is still regarded as one of the most brutal, devastating KOs in boxing history.

As savage as they come but again I dont consider it lucky. Lucky in the fact that it won him a fight he was losing handily, but he meant to smash him in the gob and he did, I dont see anything flukey about that.

If someone intend to punch you, and you get KTFO. Then that's not a lucky punch. You just got caught the right way.

Lewis was always going to win that fight though, Bruno was starting to fade a little and was getting caught often in that round from what I remember.

It's not as if he was winning every round and then got caught with the punch.

Harrison vs Sprott was definatley a lucky punch.

Some might even say the punch from Pac that killed Hatton was lucky, he wasn't even looking at him as he threw it. But I'm of the ilk that the punch was intended to hit the target and it did, so not really a lucky punch.

Just realized Lewis biggest comeback and biggest splat loss happened with eyes shut HA

one of my favs-worst was Kittakasem vs Jung koo Chang. Quincy Taylor vs Lonnie ( beasley ) was a brick. Love Carbajal but Arce shot had a bit of luck, if there is such a thing.

Jorge Castro's win over Jackson came from a pretty lucky punch

I can't think of any intentional lucky punches but I'm sure there are time when a fighter sparked a guy out when he actually had no intention to.

I dunno... Is there a mad incident where a guy knocked someone out with a 'don't-hit-me' type punch?

If that was done to the extreme, I'd definitely call it a lucky punch.
