    Default The Lucky Punch

What fights do you remember where things were turned around completely by a single punch? That is, a guy was dominating throughout the fight convincingly but all of a sudden the other guy threw that lucky punch punch that totally turned things around by knocking out the other guy cold or hurting him to finish him off later on.

Off the top of my head is Lamota vs Laurent Dauthille. Though it wasn't one lucky punch it was a barrage that ended with 13 seconds left of the last round and Dauthille fell through the ropes.

In a fight that came some time after the Pryor fights, Alexis Arguello was being dominated by Billy Costello in a JW bout, until a single straight right put Costello on his ass and effectively ended the fight.

Another one like that was Gene "Mad Dog" Hatcher's left hook against Johnny Bumphus. Until that point he was being boxed silly.

Marciano Walcott 1 - Walcott was winning until the Rock let loose a bomb and knocked him unconcious...

I havent seen the whole fight but from what I understand Walcott was winning until round 13 and had Marciano down a couple times during the fight...

If anyone hasnt seen the highlights you should check out on youtube....

Not a big fight, but I remember Michael Sprott putting Audley Harrison to sleep in a fight that he was looking abysmal in

In Boxing the whole point is to hit your opponent. So how can any punch be considered lucky? If that's what a fighter is trying to do.

But to help you with your thread. Mike Tyson-Francis Botha

Yeah it was amazing, like something out of a movie. Thing i can never understand is how Peden then managed to win the rematch as well. Nate was always the better fighter, and has proven it since.

Jorge Castro vs John David Jackson 1 = Rocky 6

Mike Weaver vs John Tate = Losing almost every round then Weaver finds that punch in the last round with a minute to go.

Kennedy McKinney vs Welcome Ncita = Not really lucky but Mckinney was down in the 11th, and although he comeback somewhat in the 11th i still feel that right hand come out of nowhere.

Took the words right out of my keyboard. Weaver-Tate is the 1st one that always comes to mind.

    Rahman's lucky shot against Lewis!

I'm not sure if I remember this properly, but wasn't Wlad vs Lamon Brewster I? Wlad controlled the fight til Brewster knocked him out.

I would say it would. That was one of the first fights that popped in my head.

Nate deserved to get knocked out in that one.
