At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how much karate/whatever a kid knows, the mfer still doesn't weigh over 100 pounds. Despite the fact that some child abducters are overweight slobs who'd get winded after a block, most aren't.

When they had "escaping from strangers" speeches in my school they would always give us bullshit facts to reassure us like: A 10 yr old kid can out run a 30 year old adult. Really? You ever see a 10 year old kid in the olympics for distance or sprinting? Unless they're a 13 yr old tyson (that is bigger at age 13 than most adults are at any point in their life) they're in danger. I had a tyson like frame at 13 so i had nothing to worry about (size wise not muscle wise, 5'11 240). At 14 i was up by a college visiting my uncle and i guess the dorm i was standing by had some problems with the one next to it over parking issues. Some 20 yr old dude thought i was part of it (probably because i hadn't shaved in awhile) and told me to relay that "we" could park there at night as long as "we" were quiet.

About 5 years ago on Xmas day, we had the whole family round, and my nephew was about 10, but he was very good at karate, I think he was trying for his brown belt or summat. Anyway, he thought it would be really funny to jump out and punch me. Kids and their games eh. Anyway, he delivered a punch right to my sternum, and it winded me really bad, and I spent most of the day playing injured, and my sister kept bringing me drinks.

Anyhow, message is that even little kids can punch hard.

A shot to the sternum doesn't take much to be impressive (I too have been hit in soft spots by little kids). My friend's gf used to be like a 3 time national karate champ but now she's no real threat to anyone except maybe a girl her size. Now somebody who i used to hang out with's sister punches like a full grown man. She never boxed, took karate or any of that stuff, guess she was just born with heavy hands.
