    Default Howdy...(Cotto, Margarito, Mayweather, Hatton)

    Howdy all...

I am new here but just wanted to put a few random thoughts about Saturdays(Sunday if UK) fight.

I in all honestly thought Cotto would murder Margarito.

I have never liked him, thought he was poor, and just generally did not rate him.

Boxing wise, after Saturday, I still dont.

However, I have never seen so much heart, power, will, and chin.

How can you beat a man, who is hit 5 times in one combination, FLUSH!, and he is still stalking you down.

I felt sorry for Cotto, I dont care what anyone said but is lack of breathing certainly affected him. Wether it would have changed the outcome I dont know, but then again, it was Margarito that caused it. So you can look at it both ways...

My Dad saw Margarito for the first time, and said for entertainment, and the price of the fight which people have to pay, he was a joy to watch, and should certainly be headlining more.

Credit to both guys, it was a great fight, the first 6 rounds felt like they went in a flash, the others for hours!

I thought Cotto was the only man on the planet that had a chance of beating Maywether, now I seriously dont think there is anyone out there.

I am not a fan of Mayweather, I am a fan of his boxing.

Margarito I feel would not live with Mayweather simply because you saw how easy it was for Cotto to hit Margarito and run off.

Mayweather is so much better than Cotto at it, and can run off for 12 rounds, whilst catching you with so many punches, he would score for fun.

Credit where Credit is due, I have never been a fan of Margarito, but after what I saw Saturday, I take my hat off to him.

He also seems such a Genuinely nice guy!

And Hatton who I am a massive fan of, at this moment in time, wouldnt live with Cotto at either weight.

    Will Margaritos victory entice Floyd.....?

    I hope so....

Some good points, welcome to the forum.

Ricky would beat Miguel at 140, simply because it is so hard for Miguel to make 140 and Ricky makes it so naturally.

    You raise an interesting point.
How mentally damaged has Ricky been from the Mayweather KO?
    and
How physically damaged has Ricky been from tough fights and a horrible lifestyle?

I really want to see how he performs against Malignaggi to answer these questions.
Malignaggi is a fighter comfortable fighting of the backfoot for 12 rounds.
In order to beat him Ricky will need a very high output and range of foot movement and will need to go the distance.

I think we'll finally see what Hatton has left. Malignaggi could well take this fight oif Ricky is poor.

(I'm a huge Ricky fan btw.)

Ricky would beat him at 140. Cotto would be too weight drained.

A perfect example of the unique nature of each human body.

Ricky sheds 3 stone of pure lard.
    Cotto sheds perhaps a stone.

Cotto is weight drained, Ricky at full fitness.

    Incredible.

I think you are 100% right in that we will see what Ricky has left against Malignalli.

If he is only 75% him normal self, and fights like he he has the last couple of times (bar Castillo), Malignalli will find him out...
