Default Freddie Roach proposed idea for fight

Dan Rafael of ESPN wrote today that Freddie Roach has brought interest back into the De La Hoya vs Pacquiao match-up. Being that the only thing not agreed on was the purse, Oscar wants 70-30 and Pacquiao wants 60-40. Roach suggested to give Oscar 60% and give Manny 30% and the winner of the fight receiving the additional 10%.

Also, to show everyone this fight isn't about the money to him, Freddie says that if Manny loses, he will not receive any pay.

Again I will state my opinion of this fight and say it is complete and utter BS! Manny has a division full of good fighters and Oscar is being a bully. I would rather watch Manny fight Valero or Soto than De La Hoya.

I only posted this up so I could keep everyone in the loop who didn't already know..

All the bs aside... If Pac's main goal in this fight is to get a payday and is only accepting 40 or the 30, 10 winner. He might aswell take 30 because Im sure the he can take 70 on any other fight and won't make near as much fighting DLH. Im not saying this is a good matchup or anything clearly pointing out what is obvious. That 30 is a huge 30. Pac has a huge fanbase, so does DLH.. Philli vs Mex if they were only the same weight. ah fuck it make it happend... It's only fair didn't pacman fight two washed up legends in Barrera n Morrales ... I kid, I kid

I would also rather see a Valero or Soto fight, than a DLH fight.

Just want to add my 2 cents: Pac would man-handle Valero. Valero's been a monster inside the ring but he is way too green and amateurish for the Pacman. Still, I would love to see Pac destroy him. He should do back-to-back fights this year against Valero and then Soto, and then hopefully there will be some mega-fights next year.

De La Hoya vs Margarito would never happen. Oscar doesn't want to have his farewell fight be a massacre. Khan is not ready for Pac.

I predict, as long as Pac wins his next fight and Hatton beats Malignaggi, it will be Pacquiao vs Hatton in a superfight to kick off 2009.

Ah the bill I proposed was a personal wish - watch Hoya getting Ko'd by someone his own size and Khan getting taught a lesson.

Every fight should reward the winner with an extra sum of money.

That's how it works in every other sport - they play for a winner's share.

I've been advocating this for years - but people in the industry think it would lead to problems with judges, referees, fight doctors, etc.

I really don't see this as that much of a mismatch to be honest.

Pacquiao is no smaller than Steve Forbes and he handled himself fine against Oscar, Floyd is only a little fella and had no problems.

Manny has great speed, relentless aggression and ever improving footwork.

If he fights Oscar he'll surely have a plan to box and move like he did in the second Barrera fight, he's hardly going to go toe to toe like he did with Marquez.

If this fight happens I say Manny comfortably goes the distance and could even win on points.

I really don't see it as a one sided beating at all, especially seeing as Oscar will have a vested future interest in Manny looking good as for practically certain if they did fight, Manny would sign a contract with Goldenboy afterwards.

Forbes might not be that much bigger than Pac. But he's use to fighting bigger fighters. His fights in the contender were all against bigger fighters. Pac has never fought a much bigger fighter. And he doesn't posses the boxing skills of a Forbes or Mayweather. Pac will get stretchered in this fight.

You're completely overlooking the business side of things here VD. Mark my words if the fight was made then Oscar and Pac would do more business than just the fight. Oscar wouldn't want Manny to look bad as he'd be by far his biggest money maker afterwards.

It honestly wouldn't suprise me if Oscar even threw the fight in order to have the rights to a Pacquaio Mayweather megafight the following year.

If it happens, it's going 12 rounds for certain imo.
