i believe as a general rule, 1600 is the lowest you want to go or you train your body to respond to a how shall i say, famine...and it will get more and more efficient at storing anything it gets as fat. also you will start eating muscle and that is not ever a good thing..

I ws always told that it you cut your calories to much that you will lose weight over the short term but you get a rebound effect after a few weeks
Can anyone confirm or repute this as i am not sure now?

It really comes down to your body schematic, Im 6'5" with a tendecny towards lean, Ive got to pound more calories just to maintain, because Ill just burn them off.
