    Default Berto Promises a rematch!

'' DiBella told ESPN.com that Berto likely will defend his title again in the late spring or summer and then has promised Collazo, who also lost a razor-close decision to Ricky Hatton a few years ago, a rematch. He deserves it.''

Ok, thats fine.. we cant get back time but if a rematch happens.. then Luis has a chance to amend this set back..

it also makes for some entertainment in between..

Both had a good showing this past weekend and both could have meaningful and rewarding fights in spring/summer and then take this rematch with potentially alot of momentum coming with both fighters.

just as long as it happens..

And if bertos next opponent is not collazo then i can once again route for him.. untill they meet again..

But lets not do a ricky Mr berto!

I think, if a rematch comes off, that Berto is going to make the necessary adjustments and pull off a UD victory. When he stayed on the outside and boxed, Berto did very well, he just got drawn into infighting (perhaps due to fatigue?). I expect him to recognise this, correct it, and box his way to a UD in the rematch.

Berto's infighting suprised me against Collazo, there were many moments where Berto seemed very confused. Granted this is from the skill of Collazo, but Berto will need to make some adjustments or Collazo with extra confidence will take more rounds.

i'd say UD or TKO.. Collazo absorbed Berto's big shots, but Berto wasn't hitting him with many combinations in the last half of the fight.. Berto will need to conserve his energy and not fight on the inside and just drop some big shots from the outside.. Eventually Collazo will feel them, and at the very least be effected to the point where Berto will cruise to a UD.

    Berto closed very strong IMO.

i agree, he had a great 12th round.. he threw more meaningful punches in that round than the 4 rounds before it.. even though he probably won most of those 4 rounds previous, he seemed very sluggish and off balance..

in the other thread about this fight, my first comment was that i felt Collazo won by a point, due to the deduction, and that Berto could have made the fight a WHOLE lot easier than it was if he just stuck to his guns.. I was more disappointed in the showing of Berto, cause i enjoy watching him fight, than anything else.. i'm criticizing him because i know he can fight much better..

I wouldn't be too disappointed in Berto. He's a relatively young fighter, not even 25 fights into his career, and Collazo has only definitively been defeated twice. I've never seen the Cassiani fight, but in the Mosley fight he suffered an injury, which I feel is a legitimate excuse for his poor performance; I feel he beat Hatton, barely. It's fights like this, being they close victories or losses, that young fighters often learn from. During the broadcast, Lewis was talking about how he felt his losses made him a better fighter. The same case could be made for Berto in this instance. I fully expect him to win the rematch, in which he will have a chance to demonstrate what he has learned. Berto showed a great desire to win in the 11th and 12th rounds, winning both, hurting Collazo in the process, and claiming the victory. As long as Berto learns from the Collazo fight(s), they could be the best thing for him. If he made the same kind of mistakes against a Cotto or a Margarito, he wouldn't have the chance to recover, come back, and win the fight.
