I am 4 rows back on the floor at the frank erwin center in Austin TX for the 4 big fights on pay per view.
Chavez trains at our gym. I have mixed emotions about him but I have to root for the hometown hero.

Thanks! I had an opportunity to chat with Hernandez and Leija 2 weeks ago. Hernandez is a really, really nice guy.
He's an LA guy that fought at the Forum back in the day. His wife is beautiful!
He doesn't have the mentality of a guy who brawls in the ring. Very, very nice guy that seems to be grounded.
He would be a great spokesman for Boxing.
I saw him and Chavez spar two weeks ago preparing for the fights and Chavez got the better of him on the first day and Hernandez seemed to get the better action the second. On both days the punches were creating wobbly legs. It was a lot of fun watching the two old timers squaring off again. In their previous "real" bout Chavez got the better of him and won a decision.
What a gift to have a guy like Chavez in my gym. That guy has true dedication.
I hope the best for both of them!
fights happening on my birthday??
Ill be 22.. blech I feel old![]()
Dude you think you have it bad? Wait until you're in your mid 30's and you are fighting guys 22. Then you know you're old. I actually hold my own with the ones at my level. But, the speed and energy is on a different level.
Enjoy your youth. I put my first knee brace on ever in my life last week in the ring. I guess it's an indication I'm still using my hips to punch. But, man, knee braces? That's when you know you're getting old.
