Default Liverpool to be no longer playing at Anfield?

Football has gone the wrong way for me. Players earn too much, sponsors say too much and the integrity of the game has fallen immensely because of it all. This piece didn't raise my enthusiasm all that much either...

You know, Liverpool play at Anfield. Man Utd play at Old Trafford. Arsenal playing at the.............Emirates stadium just sounds stupid! Who can take pride in that? It's Highbury or nothing. Screw Arsenal for selling out and all the other teams too. But if Liverpool do this, I will be upset. Anfield is where we play. We have the Kop. We have tradition. To sell out and call our stadium "Samsung stadium direct" would just kill me. It's a shame that the paper money has come to control everything that the ordinary people find even a little bit fun.

I think that it is a sad tendency that won't go away anytime soon, especially because the more teams get into this tango, the harder it becomes for the other to resist it, especially with staggering money like 100 millions at the key..

It's a shame that football has become the way it has. I'm a lifelong Liverpool fan, but if this happens then I will jump ship. I love football, but I hate corporatism a lot more.

I like to compare Liverpool to the Boston Red Sox, I think you can't change the name of the stadium even if you build a new one...if the BoSox get a new stadium it WILL be named "New Fenway" and eventually be "Fenway Park" again and yes there will be a Green Monster in Left Field just like there is right now and the dimensions of the field won't change at all.

They'll eventually work it out to where it's still Anfield even if a company has to pay to keep the name the same (which would in turn win over a bunch of fans).

It's the part of the stadium behind the goal where people were able to stand for many years. The support was always loud and boisterous and added to the formidable home atmosphere. It's not quite the same these days what with it being all seated, but it is still part of the tradition.
