Just looking on youtube and found this interview with Henry Wharton. Has some footage of his fights with Benn, Eubank and Reid. He looked like an animal. Left hooking quite like Hatton, only without the holding![]()

Wharton was a rocked chinned slow paced slugger , he was commonwealth level.
A real tough nut but wasnt world class. A mover / jabber would box his ears off.
He was an honest pro.
I agree Wharton was never anywhere near world class level - a tough cookie though from my neck of the woods.
Eubank Wharton was the first ever fight I went to so I will always remember him - paid £50 back in 1994. Thats when £50 was a lot of money.....![]()
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
Wharton should have lost against Castro and Robin Reid outboxed him which was his best chance of finally winning a title. He was a good guy and Benn outboxed him after he tried to knock his head off and it not working. He was made for Eubank's precise straight punches. Exciting fighter like Tommy Morrison with a bomb of a left hook but a lot better chin.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I always think of him as a granite chin and big punch. Thought he was gonna KO Benn. Eubank had one of his most impressive performances against him, if I remember right, and it was coming off a poor showing so Wharton was well fancied
