    He was an honest pro.
Give him European level at least. He did win the title against a future "world" champ

I agree Wharton was never anywhere near world class level - a tough cookie though from my neck of the woods.

Eubank Wharton was the first ever fight I went to so I will always remember him - paid £50 back in 1994. Thats when £50 was a lot of money.....

Wharton should have lost against Castro and Robin Reid outboxed him which was his best chance of finally winning a title. He was a good guy and Benn outboxed him after he tried to knock his head off and it not working. He was made for Eubank's precise straight punches. Exciting fighter like Tommy Morrison with a bomb of a left hook but a lot better chin.

Wharton is one of the few men Eubank looked good against post Benn. Im disappointed he never went ahead with his all yorkshire clash with Crawford Ashley.

Decent left hook and good chin, not much else though.

I liked the reason/excuse he never fought Ashley and retired as he said he knew he had nothing left and did not want to cheat the fans. Many fighter would have gone on and made one last pay day eg Tyson, Jones etc

Some may view it as chickening out though. It was a fight in the pipeline for a while and when it finally came Wharton called it quits. Its certainly summat I remember about him when I look back. Whether he was scared or not is another question but the same goes for Collins and Calzaghe. Whether he likes it or not he backed out of a fight so people are going to form opinions on why.
