Default help keeping head/weight back while throwing the right hand

Hopefully Scrap will chime in on this one.

I have a big problem reaching when throwing the right hand (or rear hand, im orthodox). My head/weight always seems to push forward. And of course this causes you to be off balance and any additional punches, movement or defence is difficult. I know part of my problem is understanding range a little bit better. To fix this I try to hit the bag focusing on keeping my head back and starting the movement by pulling the left shoulder back.

Is there any drills/techiniques to help this?

Scrap gave some great tips about how to keep the head back while jabbing and it REALLY helped. I really started to understand 'fighting off the back foot' and how effective it can be.

Pull the front shoulder back, also lift the front heel slightly of the floor 1/4inch. It will stop it becoming a brake for your right shoulder as regards movement.

What i did to help with my form is to work on body shots on the heavy bag... use big scoops. believe it or not this will help your body(legs and sholders and head) to get the idea of how to move when throwing the straight right and or jab.

Thanks Scrap, I'll try to use the front heel as a brake like you mentioned.
