Default Berto vs. Ortiz is now a done deal for April 16th

Breaking news: Berto, Ortiz reach agreement | RingTV

The fight will be in Vegas or New York. In a piece of absolute ridiculousness, they've agreed on a catchweight of 145lbs...plus one. So 146lbs then? What is the point of this? Ortiz is a massive 140lber and will likely come in heavier than Berto. Why does he need a catchweight, and more importantly, as the champion, why did Berto agree to it? It's not like Ortiz is a big enough star to make these demands.

Still, I guess we should just accept these little pieces of bullshit that distort weightclasses and get on with it. Least it's a good fight.

    jeez

i guess ortiz`s people really dont rate him that much no longer to be wrapping him up in cotton whool

expect berto to do a number on him and take a comfortable decision, something like 119-109

Well at least one of em will make a statement, finally. GBP throwing the two 'stars' in to cancel one out a bit. The catchweight 3 card monty is some seriously silly stuff I think Ortiz (146 HA?)takes him, down the middle and via tko.

Why are so many title fights at catch weights now iam not a fan of it at all.

Ortiz is overrated and Berto will stop him in 9.

    To make a physiological affect.

I don't get the last bit, because Ortiz's rep. has suffered big time since his loss to Maidana.

I'm with you on the catch weights, i hate them myself. I also think the same could be said for Berto as well, a little overrated. I think it should be a good fight.

Regardless of the catchweight I think this is a great fight, as someone said ortiz is a big 140lber so he should be comfortable at 145. Ultimately tho I expect ortiz to seriously test berto early on but berto to stop ortiz late.

I agree with Paddy...Ortiz to have success early then Berto comes on late to stop him.

Victor's best chance IMO is to catch him early. Remember Berto had some trouble with another southpaw Collazo and was almost knocked down in the first. Granted, Collazo is a better boxer IMO than Ortiz but doesn't have the power Victor has. If Victor can't hurt him I see Berto stopping him late.
