Default Rafael Marquez VS Toshiaki Nishioka on the horizon Oct 1

Rafael Marquez claims to be rejuvenated under the guidance of Daniel Zaragoza and nothing is set in stone but he plans to take a tuneup up bout next month against Euesebio Osejo before heading into a title shot against Nishoka in Oct. Gamboa fight was also offered to him but he'd rather face Nishioka for bigger payday and title.. ( turning down Gamboa was a wise move )

    Who wins this fight?

Raffy will have the typical puncher's chance. But Nishioka is an awfully good boxer. Far better than JuanMa.

The weight is a huge plus for Marquez. He's a different fighter at 122 than at 126. I think he gets Nishioka out of there around the 6th or 7th round

Nishioka is a bad dude and he's one of my favorites but I dont see how he can beat Rafael at 122. Nishioka is effective when he's in control but when he's pushed back by someone who can punch, he gets sloppy and clinches alot, unneccesarily. He inside game/mid range is pretty average and be becomes mediocre in those situations.

Rafael can take nishioka's punches but nishioka can't do the same. He gets taken out brutally.

I see it something similar. People point to Marquez age (36) as a factor. I don't see it as much as a factor considering Nishioka will be 35 himself come fight time. They both have had 45 career fights. So there about equal in wear, tear and experience. So it comes down to skills. Which I think Marquez trumps him. Jhonny Gonzalez had the blueprint to beat Nishioka. Problem for Gonzalez was his jaw is 100% certified glass. He just can't take a flush punch. Marquez jaw ain't steel. But it's better than Gonzalez. And he handles punches better. He'll handle Nishioka

Same age maybe, but same wear and tear? I don't think Nishioka has had anywhere near the wars Raffy has, has he?
