Default Intro - a few tips if you please?

Hi all. I have just joined up on recommendation from another boxing enthusiast on this site. Looks great, sick of the immature rubbish on most of the other sites. Looking for real enthusiasts and seem to have found them - Thank you in advance.

I did some boxing almost a decade ago, and I have recently decided after having a major shoulder injury approx 2 years ago, two surgeries and a long amount of rehab (still ongoing) that I still have a passion for the sport. I have started training again, mainly fitness and conditioning my arms... a decade of couch-potatoing took its toll..

I took some vid of a recent session on the heavy bag -- 16oz gloves. I will relocate the bag as the little 'ledge' is proving to be in the exact wrong spot but, was hoping that in the interim before I make another vid in a couple of weeks with a more serious technical approach that some may offer a bit of advice so I don't start forming bad habits from the get-go. Any constructive advice / comments / opinions is appreciated - I am aiming for my first amateur bout in just under 12 months.

Oh and I have lifted the bag bout 3/4 of a foot to bring my hands up higher since.

Thanks again and look forward to contributing as much as I can

    Burgie (from Australia)

One of my favorite things about this site is the maturity level. People can argue and not get mad, get mad without insulting and not to metion there is ALOT of awsome knowledge on here.

thanks -- anything you think i should be working on more at this stage / drills etc? Or is this OK to keep with (albeit in better position so i can move around the bag a bit?) until I get back into a boxing gym within a month or two? I just know habits are hard to break ..

One comment was that I straighten my left leg in transition / throwing right cross -- I've noticed it, is it a bad thing, should my legs ALWAYS have some bend in them?

    Thanks again for the comment.

Yes, your knees always want to have bend to them, kinda like you bouncing on the balls of your feet. You can stay lower or fight tall, depending on your style. When you shadow box, try to mimc Muhammed Ali's footwoork lol

Thanks for that -- Definitely prefer a lower stance, more squat to speak. Will concentrate on keeping some flex in the knees. Appreciate the info many thanks

Just found all the videos for training on this site as well, awesome.
