What do you guys believe Miguel Cotto should do after his victory over Antonio Margarito?

If he really cared about boosting his legacy, he would face Canelo, Kirkland or Martinez.. no more handicaps..
But he'll probably end up taking the easiest route to another payday.. Chavez Jr..
You don't think he should drop to welter weight? I don't think he should fight Chavez i think he sucks. Now canelo would be a good fight but he should get some bigger names first and canelo shouldnt risk his undefeated record until he puts a woopin to Chavez jr lol. Martinez would be awesome they could meet at 158-160 but if not it should be mayweather or pacquiao. I think it should be them first that way he won't have to go down 2 weight classes If he fought Martinez.
Since Floyd said May 5th, Cotto was the first name that came to mind since I still believe a Pacman fight won't never happen.
1st choice; Mayweather vs Cotto
2nd Choice; Martinez vs Cotto at 154. If Martinez claim he can come down to 150 to fight Pacman, 154 should be a better option.
3rd choice; Cotto vs Alvarez. As a fan, I would like to see that fight. But we all have the same thoughts on Alvarez losing credility early in his career.
4th choice; Cotto vs K9. Unifiy the division!!!
Cotto should stay at light middle and fight Floyd or Manny if they are willing to at this weight not at Welterweight as Cotto needs all the advantage he can get to beat them including Martinez. JCC would be too big a jump even though Cotto is far move skilled. Alvarez would make perfect sense.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I don't think Chavez Jr. is an easy fight for Cotto because of the size difference. I agree though that if he was interested in his legacy he would face Mayweather, Canelo, Kirkland or Martinez. Like I've said in other threads, Martinez has been calling him out at 154, if he fought Chavez Jr. at 160, it would be a direct dodge. Cotto isn't looking to unify because no one with a belt is a big enough name other than Canelo.
canelo, mayweather, kirkland, martinez or even winner of berto ortiz
He Who Is Brave Is Free
Wisdom, compassion and courage are the three universally recognised moral qualities of men.
I saw a picture of Chavez next to Amir Khan recently and he dwarfed him. I guess Chavez is 6'1, Khan roughly 5'10, but it looked a much bigger difference than that. I'm surprised a Cotto/Chavez fight is being mooted given their respective heights & weights - Cotto is about 5'7'' and appears to be fighting above his natural weight class even at 154, a move to 160 wouldn't do him any favours. And Arum has already said that Chavez can't move back down. Even at a catchweight of, say 157, it would be a strange matchup.
Not saying Cotto wouldn't beat Chavez (although I think it'd be closer than most suggest due to the size differential) but there are plenty of fights at 154 or 147 with massive appeal for him (assuming he can still make 147).
Martinez seems desperate for a Cotto fight... if he agrees to 154 then that is the fight Cotto should really go for in the summer after the DiBella's March date (with Maravilla seemingly against either Chavez or Macklin). One of Alvarez or Kirkland at 154 would also be very interesting, but also difficult to make due to the promoters. Mayweather could still be a realistic possibility should the Pacquiao fight not materialise, although I feel that fight should have happened about four years ago.
No-one is mentioning JMM, but if they could agree a weight I think that would be a cracking fight given that they are roughly the same height. Both are listed at 5'7'', and they are pretty much the two biggest names out there other than PBF and Pac. Then there's the Mexico/Puerto Rico rivalry. Plus it shouldn't be too difficult to work out promotion-wise. Winner would be first in line to face the PBF/Pac winner. It makes perfect sense to me, especially after JMM's performance near the WW limit against Pac last time out.
