    Default Khan wants belts returned

And is pursuing a no-contest, I can't blame him, according to Fat Dan:

"Golden Boy Promotions, on behalf of former unified junior welterweight titleholder Amir Khan, is moving swiftly in an effort to have the result of Khan's split-decision title loss to Lamont Peterson in December overturned to a no-contest and the belts returned to Khan in the wake of Peterson's failed drug test.

Golden Boy attorney Arnold Joseph wrote letters on Friday to Alfred Grant, deputy commissioner of the Washington, D.C., Boxing and Wrestling Commission, asking the fight result be changed to a no-contest.

Joseph also wrote to Daryl Peoples of the IBF and Gilberto Mendoza Jr. of the WBA, the organizations that sanctioned the world title bout on Dec. 10, asking for the titles to be returned to Khan."

Just wanted to add, not only should the 1st fight be declared a no-contest and the titles returned to Khan, but Peterson needs a good long suspension. This kind of shit hurts boxing, a message needs to be sent.

a failed drug test leading up to the rematch has nothing to do with the first fight, so I fail to see where the NO CONTEST makes sense, Khan has been bitching and moaning and has shown he can't take a loss, if it was for that Cotto would just have the 2 losses on his record rather to the L* against Tony

Peterson admitted using the same banned substance (synthetic testosterone) in November 2011, or a month before the 1st fight. I don't like Khan and think he's a twat, but what's fair is fair, Peterson cheated to win.

If the man has admitted to using them for the first fight then I agree it should be a no contest. Khan is still a whiny little bitch.

It strikes me that if Peterson passed whatever tests were in place for the first fight, there should be no grounds to reverse the decision. Isn't it also possible that if he were found to be deficient in testosterone, supplementing with it wouldn't have brought his levels above normal during early stages? If so there is a major gray area here imo, I feel if anything Peterson legitimately believed he would pass any tests that could be given and was a clean fighter. To make him suffer here isn't the right course of action at all imo, if anyone believes PED's aren't rampantly used in major sports they are very mistaken. The rarity here is that Peterson happened to be given a proper test after willingly submitting to it! Until there is some sort of conform in place from all of the major commissions it is absolutly backwards to put the onus on the fighters who happen to get caught imo.

Well you do know the fight was canceled right? And you do know that Peterson allegedly admitted using a banned substance before the first fight, right? So where's the "major gray area"? Peterson cheated by using a banned PED, whether or not he thought he was "clean" or that they're rampantly used in major sports isn't relevant. And ignorance/stupidity is no excuse for breaking the rules/law.

I love how the Pacquiao fans are all up in arms about Petersons PED use...Same guy who volunteered for stricter tests whilst Pac has never even taken a proper drugs test before and you all defended his decision. Double standard mofos..

This is a very weak argument (I saw it made in another thread too).

When has any athlete in history ever asked for softer drugs testing? It would be utterly moronic for any athlete to not publicly give their approval to stricter drug laws. Even the proven cheats spout this.

The fact Peterson already passed a test with a different body just makes him look more guilty. He thought he had beat the testing procedure.

Your counter argument had zero relevance to what my post said..

Your post said - Why are people bothered about a man that got caught cheating when a man that has never been caught cheating is an obvious cheat.

I just replied to the incredibly naive bit that claimed - if a man asks for stricter drugs testing then he clearly can't be a cheat.
