Default What is now the most sort after Marquee fight for the sport?

After Saturday night, not many people consider Mayweather vs. Pacquiao a competative fight anymore, and it has definately lost its marketable appeal. So if this is no longer the fight fans want, what would you consider to be the fight that you most want to see, and will raise boxing's profile?

A Floyd Mayweather versus Sergio Martinez fight for Martinez's middleweight belt would be HUGE, as would a Canelo - Sergio Martinez fight. Actually, now that I think about it, to raise boxing's profile, Canelo and Broner need to keep winning.

    Mayweather VS Martinez
    Mayweather VS Canelo
    Broner VS Rios
    Broner VS Danny Garcia
Ward VS Froch II (In Vegas or England)
    Cotto VS Canelo (In Vegas/NY/PR/Mex)

I would say these are the most popular fights that could be made right now, in the case of Cotto its not because he is on top of the game anymore like the other but simply because the event would be huge.

If we got any two of these fights next year I would be a happy fan.

I agree with all of those and would like to add Ward vs. Martinez to the wish list.

Manny Marquez would be the biggest fight in boxing right now financially. Floyd Martinez might run it close financially but (debatably) boxing fans would rather see it.

Disagree slightly Sergio Martinez v Floyd Mayweather for the middleweight title with Sergio having to make 156lb which is what B Hop had to do against Oscar.

do you think floyd is going to disavantage himself in weight against sergio or canelo?

He wont do a catchweight so i just cant see him fighting at 154 anymore.

Its got to be either guerrera or bradley..or possibly a marquez 2?

    Floyds a small welterweight.

I think Floyd is a full welterweight and will beat them all but not a light middle or middleweight so has a tougher challenge. No way does Floyd move to middleweight.

I think it would come down to Marquez v Pac V or Maweather vs Martinez although if it was m own personal list of fights I want to see there would be plenty more.

Those 4 fighters have to be the most established names in the sport right now, the have all been at the top fo a long time and have beaten all the top guys time after time.

I think Mayweather v Martinez would be absolutely massive what with the size difference and being the middleweight division it would be a mega event. Skillwise and boxing brain I would go for Maweather, Martinez would have the size and strength advantage but that's the onl areas I would give him an edge. That might be all he needs though. Maweather by wide UD.

People will want to see Pac vs Marquez for obvious reasons.

Floyd is a full-fledged, strong welterweight. He's fought at 154 twice and didn't look out of shape doing it. He hasn't fought below 147 since 2005. Also, don't forget when he agreed to a fight with JMM at 144, he couldn't make weight, and came into the fight at 146.

Canelo is a small junior middleweight, although I imagine he'll grow into his body more as he ages a little bit (he's only 22).

Martinez is a small middleweight now, who has stated on the record that he could get down to 154 without too much of an issue if the fight was right.

If Floyd wanted to go out like a boss, he would beat the best at 154 in Trout now, and then Canelo once Canelo beats a ranked opponent, and follow those with a jump up to 160 to beat Martinez.

Floyd's legs have gone so Canelo is a hell of a tough fight for him but I do think he'll do it at some point.

If Floyd does go up to middleweight he would be one of the greatest fighters ever.

If he can beat Martinez he would probably be GOAT for me, although fighting so infrequently has to count against him.
