Default Marquez says 'no' to a fifth fight

I feel this is the logical decision for Marquez to make in terms of solidifying his legacy in good standing. But of course, feelings may change and he may except a 5th fight after all, whether it'd be for the money or for pride.

    Thoughts?

Good for him. Would love to see Arum's face right now.

Arum will probably have him fight Bradley again.

Marquez should do what he wants, and if it pisses Arum off, that's good too.

Who is Marquez going to fight? This is an obvious ploy to gain bargaining position. In recent times, Marquez has only fought two boxers where going into the fights, there were thoughts he might lose: Mayweather and Pacquiao. Other than that, it's been spoon-fed opposition. So, there is NO way Marquez will face Bradley, or any other tough competitor at 140-147. Nacho said as much in an interview (re: Bradley). If Marquez is going to risk losing, he's going to do it against Pacquiao.

Hardly the first name that comes to mind when considering boxers who are spoon fed opponents. He would beat Bradley comfortably. He should fight Garcia if he can meet the weight challenge. Pick up a few belts in the process.

Remove Floyd and Manny from his CV and in the last 5 years he faced: Michael Kastidis, Likar Ramos (Who?), Serhiy Fedchenko, and Juan Diaz.

Not a who's-who list of killers by any stretch. This is at a time where there have been many tougher options at or around his weight class. I get it, he's 39, and entitled to earn his money. Why take the risk of losing and throwing away a multi-million dollar pay day? So, I'm not saying what he is doing doesn't make perfect business sense. It's just, outside Floyd and Manny, Marquez's choice of opponents in the last five years could be a lot better. He's no Carl Froch when it comes to taking on the toughest options.

How can you be so sure he would beat Bradley comfortably? He didn't look amazing against Kastidis, or against Fedchenko, if you consider that it was Fedchenko. Other than Floyd, when was the last time he fought a boxer (in terms of style) in (or near) his prime? Chris John? You get my point.

By the way, this is by no means an argument that Marquez doesn't deserve the bargaining leverage against Pacquiao after annihilating him in their last fight.

Marquez does what corrupt evil bob arum tells him to do.
There will be a fifth fight if bob wants there to be.

you DO KNOW that Marquez isn't a Top Rank fighter right? so he has the right to tell Bob to fuck himself and can follow up his KO against Manny with a fight against the likes of Alfonso Gomez if he fucking chooses

Good on him. He put an exclamation point on that long running soap opera. Having said that it could be a ploy to see what Arum would offer. If I'm Marquez I'm telling him that I will consider it if the pay cheques from the last fight are reversed.

If had a soul he would have gotten Manny the Bradley rematch and righted a piss stain on the sport. Tbh I would have figured that Manny would have demanded that by now.

Speaking of Bradley he turned down 2.3 million to rematch Peterson in a unification and has chosen instead to fight Provodnikov.

I agree with Marquez. There's no need to see him go 5-0 against Pacquiao

I'll never understand why Manny hasn't gone after Bradley either. Arum isn't the only bull in that herd, and a rematch would have been decent money.

Marquez says "I want a 50-50 split" to a fifth fight.
