    Default re-birth of Cotto...

Cotto looked like the guy that fought Margarito years ago... he looked like the guy that terrorized the lite welterweight div... people ask,"how do u beat Floyd"..well, there it is... effective aggression. Finally ,Cotto gets rid of the friends who train him and goes with a real trainer..big difference.

Agreed, Cotto got a lot of doo doo here for going to Roach. He was trying to do just what you said, create a rebirth. It will be interesting to see how he does against better competition but I was pleased to see the old Cotto last night. Perhaps it will shut up all the Roach naysayers, probably not.

Honestly , I just hope Mayweather - Cotto 2 doesn't happen next. I would much rather see Cotto - Alvarez. I think Cotto wins on points in that one unless judges screw him

I don't think he beats Alvarez at all, but he looked as good as you could hope last night. That's the fight that should happen next for certain.

But was against Delvin Rodriguez. C'mon...

I would love to see a Cotto/Mayweather 2. Cotto would fare better.

Cotto just wanted a win on his record and he got it but lets not get too carried away. He would lose to Floyd again and there is no justification for the rematch. The fight with Alvarz would be good, Martinez match is just fictitious.

Cotto looked excellent last night, but much of it had to do with the opponent as well. Delvin had stage fright and no gameplan.

Still, Cotto looked in top shape and much better than when he fought Trout.

He should try to avenge the Trout loss and/or face Alvarez. That's THE fight for him.

He needs to fight Alvarez. A rematch with Trout won't bring a big a paycheck as a fight with Alvarez will. Plus I don't think Cotto can beat Trout the way he was dominated in there first fight

Cotto showed what A REAL elite fighter does against a journeyman, I was at the fight last night, maybe Chavez Jr should have taken a ringside seat so that he could take notes on what a REAL champion does in the ring with a guy allegedly out of his league, and how to do it WITHOUT a size or age advantage lol

Rodriguez and Vera are both journeymen. Only difference Vera is a journeyman who actually goes out there and fights. Looking to win. He gives 100% all the time. Rodriguez doesn't do that. He's happy to just be there. Go through the motions. And get paid. He was never there to win.

*U don't know what ur talking about, ..Rodriquez is a dangerous fighter, with skill... he's more of a gatekeeper than Journeyman, but make no bones about it, Rodriquez CAN fight. For Cotto to come in and beat a B fighter in Rodriquez is a serious statement. Rodriquez has been in withsome some serious comp as of late and had dedicated himself . ... it's a nice job by Cotto. i'd like to see Cotto do this again before I put him in with the best fighters, but early consensus is..HE'S BACK.

p.s U can say whatever, under Diaz lately, Cotto looked like a shot fighter...

We need to be a little careful here. Delvin was the perfect guy to look great against. Not taking anything away from Cotto as it was a master performance but... Btw Diaz was a real trainer and not a relative or friend.

Diaz is not only a real trainer, but a very good one. But you're underestimating Roach's role. Would Diaz have had Cotto come out with his old aggresion and vicious shots to the body? Diaz did admirably preparing Cotto for Margacheato and for Floyd. But would he have been as effective in getting last night's results out of Cotto? Food for thought.

Fair enough. Lets see if the old Cotto seek and destroy mission works beyond the likes of Rodriguez. To early to make that call. Like I said imo Delvin was the perfect opponent to look great with and I'm not sure Diaz would have done anything different once he studied the tape.
