Default What damage has this fight done to boxing ??

I convinced a few people (casual fans) at work to pay for the fight Saturday when I explained the magnitude of what was going on – now today I wish I hadn’t. Man am I getting some stick.

As a fan ‘in the know’ so to speak I wasn’t surprised by what happened over 12 rounds in the fight and take my hat off to the technical mastery of Floyd – I think deep down I had got carried away and thought Pac would get through in the early rounds and the fight would ignite into something special.

I’m sure this has been discussed several times since Saturday night but what damage has this done to the sport ? For us on here it won't deter us but those casual fans I mentioned certainly won’t be back !

I think I can forget about EA Sports sitting round the table this morning and deciding to do another Fight Night game that’s for sure

I got a PhD after it: permanent head damage

I especially got confused with the logic that says

    1. You (myself) are dumb
    2. you (myself) do not know shit about boxing
    3. If one (myself) will look at a certain angle under certain perspective with several factors in mind on
the fight, mayweather performace, then he would see some boxing genius instead of a pile of crap that I see all the time

and meanwhile I find it all boring crap

If people don't want to watch something on their own don't advise it.

Those people should just jerk off to a cock fight. We all knew Pac would slow down when he was countered.

Hell we all knew who was on Floyd's "hit list" when he came out of retirement. He faught them all and for 6 years it was "but he won't.....okay he did. But he won't.....okay he did. But he won't....." All the while this all was obvious. Pac always had no chance, he has no jab. They banked on Floyd's shot legs and the bank was robbed.

It might of put off some casual fans but fuck them I really enjoyed seeing floyd put on another brilliant boxing lesson on an inferior opponent.

Most of us on hear had a good idea how the fight would go, the casual fan wants the Rocky toe
to toe bullshit, Floyd do that never in a million years.!
Yes the excitement of a big fight, which if's or but's never come into it with a Floyd fight, we
ALL no the way he fights by now don't we.!

The expectations were high,! but in reality you saw a boxing match the better boxer giving his
opponent a boxing lesson in the noble art, of to hit and not to be hit yourself that's Floyd in a
nutshell, not to everyone's taste but that's what you got.

Most of us on here knew - yes.

You need more casual fans on board though for the future

We need Golovkin or Kovalev on terrestrial tv !

Golovkin's last fight was on channel 5.

Why do people care whether or not "casual" fans watch boxing? Is it because you want your friends to enjoy it with you? I don't get it as I couldn't give a flying fuck.

Bang on. I said to Scrap during the week what do recon, Floyd by three clear points? He said yeah cant really see any other way but ill be going for Manny as hes the underdog. Same here I said except if Floyd gets dropped then he will be the instant underdog and I will start yelling for him to dig his way out instead. We agreed on that too. I think most knew the outcome deep down even though we all hoped for more. Hearts and minds all that stuff.

I watched a thousand people in the pub I was in here yell for Manny as they had got caught up in race thing : America thinks its the best at everything and lets see the poor underdog win this he deserves it blah blah mentality. I tell you 90 % thought Manny won it going on what i heard as i left so these casuals now think the sport is rigged which it is to an extent due to who fights who and when ad the occasional gift ,but not the way they now think it is from the top down.

Worse yet, he'll have watched that fight and try to do what he saw those two guys doing.

Make over $100m quid for throwing 400 punches in 36 minutes. If I was a young kid I'd copy them
