you wear a headguard in amature and the ref' stops the fight faster then in the pros.
how old are you? you can keep in shape now and start boxing when you 18.
hey! thanks for the reply
im 14 though quite a while before my 18th
my dad said i could spar
do you know whati could do to make my dad chasnge his mind? he's sending me to a pretty good school and he doesn't want me braindead when i need to be making money but i dont think that ameture is that serious
thanks!
he allows you to spar but not to compete ?
you can tell him that you wanna box only for being fit so you will train and train and when you turn 18 you could do whatever you want (and you will have 4 years of expirence).
Anybody who tells you theres no danger in Boxing is talking out of their arse. Of course there is, but having said that with the regulations in place today, its the safest contact sport there is FACT. Its one of the qeustions thats always worried me being a coach and considering the welfare of your students welfare and longterm health. Whats between the ears is the most important peice of anatomy we have it stores memory, our intellectual source. Without it were fucked Two years ago I had the pleasure to meet and talk at length to the top neurologist in Britain, what he told me releived my apprehensions of the dangers. They are more concerned with football and Rugby than Boxing as regards brain damage, but are unsure of the headguard issue as regards the weight having a reverse affect on damage done through stabilty to the head and poor vision. Most of my mountainering freinds are now dead, all my boxing freinds are still with us, coherant and in the most part healthy, all with good memorys. Still involved in the sport that other sports try to live up to, theres nothing qiute like it. It answers all the qeustions.
Pain lasts a only a minute, but the memory will last forever....

im honoured to have had your 1000th post scrap
yet again you've given a great answer thanks!
so in rugby and football your more likely to get brain damage? how is that? i would've thought that repeated shots to the head would've made it more likely top get brain damage than football?
i'll definetly pass this onto dad
thank you also B![]()
good luck in convincing your dad ,man.
Your dad will probably not be convinced. However, just like the previous replies said, train hard (and keep sparring) until you're 18, and then your free to do as you like.![]()
Ducaire is right you dad probably wont be convinced .
no parent want his son to be a fighter , they say - be a thinker not a stinker.
My little guy was born the other day. I was convinced I wanted him to box, but after seing him, no way. How could any parent willingly subject their child to the "brutality" of boxing? So I cans ee where your dad is coming from. However, I do want him to train and hit the mits and the bag and even do some sparring when he hit about 12yo. My main reason beign so he'll never be picked on. And then I told myself, if he wants to compete at 18 it's his choice, hoping he doesn't.
If you want to compete that badly maybe you and your dad could go to see some amateur fights of kids your age. I watched some on TV one day in a local event in southestern Michigan, kids about your age, some even fighting out of the legendary kronk in Detroit. It really seemd like the damage they do at that age is negligable, and you're equally as likely to get a neck injury in american football, hockey, etc. At your age you guys just don't hit hard enough to concern me. But still, if you were my boy, I'd say not yet too. In a couple years, maybe we'll talk. In the meantime, work on form on the bag and mits and light sparring.
So you can Spar in a proper boxing club, but can't compete till you're 18?
Fine... You'll just be the best Novice Senior out there when you get your Licence...
Good luck your dad. and the guys here basically gave you what you need.
cheers fellas its encouraging
im waiting for the right moment and doing my homework on ameture whoch might change his mindi've been reading that ameture is perfectly safe? because of the referees take no chances? is it true? it said that football, rugby and even badmitton....
are more likely to get injured.
