Default Canelo vs Crawford getting closer..... (wink, wink)

    https://www.boxingnews24.com/2025/01...o-vs-crawford/

"Boxing’s First Real Mega-Fight In Ages: Canelo Vs. Crawford!"

I'm presuming the article title is tongue-in-cheek.

"Boxing's First Real Mega-Fight in Ages"

    Right.

They've certainly been dancing around this one long enough. Whether it happens or not is beside the point. The fact it's even being contemplated is wonderful, IMO.

"Wonderful"?? Yep. That's what I said.

Wonderful because it might be the cherry on top of the ice cream that has been Canelo's career as of late.

    I hope it happens.

I'd be curious as to the particulars, though.

Would it be at 168? If so, I'd advise Crawford to begin a steady diet of Clenbuterol beef. Maybe Canelo can steer him (excuse the pun) to some choice slaughterhouses.

I noticed the proposed fight date is September 13th.

Good thinking. At least Crawford will still be 37. Won't be 38 till a couple of weeks later, so that might take some of the sting out of the age criticism for Canelo.

I can't wait for the hype for this one... and all the gullible casuals and Canelo groupies who will swallow up the hype like hungry, tainted cows feeding from a trough.

I like Crawford and glad he is making big money and this is a very high profile event.

Crawford is an elite boxer who is really unappreciated and should be a higher profile mainstream name in the world.

Bud will give it his all and has nothing to lose.

    I like Crawford too.

But I see this event for what it really is: one guy ducking his one true dangerous opponent... and another guy wanting a little limelight before calling it quits on his career.

Me... I'd rather not be bothered with hype about a 168-pounder who has even wanted to fight for a bogus cruiserweight title, fighting against a bloated 147-pounder, on whom the jury is still out whether he can even carry his power over to 154.

Meanwhile, the true challenge to this protected diva has been sitting, stewing in his own disappointment... while Ginger fans give the diva a pass for ignoring him.

But alas... boxing has truly changed.

    Bring on the 3-ring circus.

They will hype this fight but a win by Canelo is expected and his record for his last few fights clearly show that he is not taking on the most dangerous fighters and is retiring very soon.

I can see Canelo moving onto the you tube circuit next.

I can see Crawford being criticised for not taking Ennis at whatever weight suits them. Ideally that would be a good warm up for Crawford before September but business reasons means he will not take the risk.

Oh I'm not criticizing Crawford at all. He just wants in on the Cash Cow bonanza before the diva retires. Fact is... any underweight champion with a name to offer is a likely candidate (and beneficiary) of this farewell circus tour. Back when common sense prevailed, boxing fans would've scoffed at the idea of Crawford vs Ginger. Now it's a serious possibility. Is it any less likely that we could go even further in the weight disparity matchups? Hey.... Inoue is still out there.

Default The Canelo v Crawford build up is...

...EXCELLENT. The buzz around this is reaching beyond Mayweather/Pacquiao levels in terms of the marketing and reach and scope of the promotions. I'm seeing the promoters HAVE to be open to using these social media content creators... Never have I seen so much content from YouTube and Facebook about this fight. This is good stuff!!

I'm glad someone is tuned to the fight build-up, because I sure haven't.

"The buzz around this is reaching beyond Mayweather/Pacquiao levels in terms of the marketing and reach and scope of the promotions."

If this is true, it speaks volumes about the nature of boxing and its fans today. It is beyond sad that the buzz around this sham of a fight would approach any mega-fight, much less the build-up to the (disappointing) Floyd-Pac showdown. That build-up had reason to be, even if the fight was expired in terms of the peaks of both fighters. But it was still considered somewhat of an even fight going in, where each had an equal chance. Each was putting his legacy on the line... but sadly the fight itself disappointed.

Canelo-Crawford to me is more like Jake Paul vs Tank... Kareem Abdul Jabbar vs Bruce Lee... or Ali vs Andre the Giant.

The fact there's a buzz basically says that boxing has attracted zillions of casuals, who couldn't tell a real boxing classic if it reared up and smacked them in the face.

Marketing and promoting will make a spectacle of just about anything... and like the old saying goes: "There's sucker born every minute." I'm sure the odds will be ridiculously close by fight time. Then... after the inevitable win by Ginger... the hordes of casuals that looooovvvveeee Ginger will claim they've seen the best fight since Ali-Frazier I. (Well... actually, they won't. Because most of these casuals probably have no earthly idea who Frazier was).

I would predict a KO win by Ginger over the bloated Crawford... but Crawford will likely pull a Charlo, and make it a long, boring decision win for Ginger.

This is a huge event but really is manufactured. There is no real logical reason for it other than Turki putting the money up for it.

I will stay up 4am for this fight and will be supporting Crawford but can't see him win this. I would love it if he wins and it will be huge if Bud pulls off the upset.

This is just a crazy fight that should not happen.

Most fights are manufactured to an extent. This is the showbiz and marketing side of boxing. This is being brilliantly built. You can see professional marketing and promotional handprints on all of this.

No skin off my back, bro. I won't be watching this circus live, but I'll for sure see highlights in the sports shows I frequent. I'll also be laughing at the casuals trying to pass this off as a great Ginger victory, enhancing his (cough) "legacy."

Some real fans will watch because, let's face it... in the vacuum of REAL boxing fights these days... boxing fans in need of a "fix" will watch damn near anything.

Thinking about maybe how far Canelo has slowed down and looking less impressive. Berlanga went points with Alvarez yet was blown away in his last fight by Hamzah Sheeraz.
