I agree it was not something we are accustomed too, it was less than Manly to win that way. Floyd did it to Gatti and Mosely too so he is consistent. Seems like he is ruthless and acutely aware of every angle and takes every oppurtunity ala HopkinsAnd Ortiz was appropriately punished, I don't dispute that. Its the intent Ortiz had. Tried to illegally gain an advantage to win, Mayweather did the same but stretched it legally yet he is getting scourged unbelievable here. You cant punish somemone who didnt break the rules.I don't see anyone saying that Ortiz didn't do anything wrong, only that he was appropriately punished for it.Im talking about the moral high road most are taking on this. Ortiz butted and hit a defenseless Floyd who was looking away with the intent on gaining an advantage and was begging for forgiveness ONLY after getting in trouble. His intentions were obvious and Floyd started fighting when the action resumed. He did it to Gatti and to Mosely because the time was in and the action was on. If you look at Floyd his body language was anything but accepting of an apology. He retaliated plain and simple. He didn't get away with butting and hitting Floyd, he got a point deducted and if it happened again he should have been disqualified. How come Ortiz can hit Floyd 2X while he is defenseless and looking away. The kid was sorry he got caught. Floyd never tried hugging him he had his hands on Victors chest. His body language didnt signify he was OK with it, Ortiz assumed he was straight after that and was over compensating because he didnt want to get beat up!! This is boxing and Ortiz looked like a kid in that moment and realized how brutal it could beI was cheering for Mayweather and I was disgusted by his actions. I also would not laugh if Ortiz had KO'd Mayweather after the butt, I'd be just as pissed off.No one has acknowledged Ortiz was only sorry about the butt because he got caught. He threw 2 punches to a defenseless Floyd who was looking at Cortez. That's a fact!! and if Floyd got Ko'd you'd all be laughing. That was the craziest sequence I have ever seen in a fight and that spans a ton of Tyson fights.. Lol
Floyd absolutely approached him like he was going to hug/touch gloves. As soon as Ortiz was defenseless and Cortez was looking away, he struck. It was within the rules, but an absolutely childish and pathetic move by a great fighter who should be above those things.
Sad part was Ortiz looked happy that the fight was over, weird stuff
Ortiz always looks happy, he was the same way after he quit against Maidana. It's a total facade IMO.
Mayweather didn't break the rules, but he broke convention. Stuff like what Ortiz was doing happens all the time after a foul, blatant or no, and it's convention for the other fighters to either accept the apology or to refuse but allow his opponent to put his guard back up.
